Betacake continues to pump out more impressive images. I won't bother to list them - as I suggest you simply go there and check out the pics for yourself. Remember to click READ MORE to see all the images on that particular topic. The only reason I bring this up is this particular picture below impressed me. Good detail on a couple of droids...

They have not talked about pricing structure, but several Q&A's and interviews leads the community to believe that there will be a standard pricing structure with modern MMOs, IE $15/month with perhaps other derivatives like 6 months = $13/month and 12 months = $10/month. Either way, I hope to see no micro-transitions.

For a primer on the official forums, please refer to the video below.

The Old Republic Forums "Walkthrough" Episode 1: The Phantom Dumbass

There are other videos in the series - you should easily be able to find them after. Essentially, the forums are great for regurgitating ideas, thoughts, and concerns that have been spoken over ad nauseam. As Talicia pointed out, the Stickied "Information gathered on The Old Republic so far!" is one of the most useful things on the forums and arguably the only thing useful there. A user named GameWizX also did a great job of organizing the E3 information and will be doing so for San Diego Comic Con, so I will be staying in tuned the his "Unofficial San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Thread" during the appropriate time. The rest of the forums is a pointless time-sink where you can complain/bicker/hype/hate over speculation all you want.

If you check BetaCake, subscribe to Steven Reid's twitter, and visit at least one FanSite (DarthHater, Ask a Jedi, TORWars, etc...) - you will know every thing about the game essentially as good as any body else outside of Beta - without the annoyance of rabidly pointless forum echoers.

[...] it would be weird if everyone was running around with two AI characters.

You can only have one companion travelling with you at a time.

@MB
: A little starter course on crafting in TOR. There are 4 Gathering Skills (Archeology, Bioanalysis, Scavenging, and Slicing). There are 6 Crafting Skills (Armormech, Armstech, Artifice, Biochem, Cybertech, and Synthweaving). There are 4 Mission Skills (Diplomacy, Investigation Mission, Treasure Hunting, Underworld Trading). You may select up to three skills, but cannot have more than 1 Crafting Skills. On your ship, you may have your companions remain on board queue up to 5 different companions to perform crafting tasks that they will continue even offline. Affection reportedly can affect the speed at which a companion may perform certain tasks in a positive way.

I'm curious as to how the game handles roles in solo/small group play, are healers viable solo or is a tank companion a must? Can tanks do decent damage or again is it companion dependent?  I'm going healer, and probably tank too after, and I prefer not to depend on NPC's for my  output too much (but I do love the addition).

Healers are a viable option, solo-wise because of the companion. Healers also have the added benefit of Presence being their main stat which, in-turn, increases the damage output of companion. You, as well as the other classes, will be relying on companions for effective leveling - the game was designed as such. That being said, a majority of the Advanced Classes (ACs) are mixed - there are three skill trees, with one of them being common to each AC that particular class has, one of them being focused on a group role (heal or tank), and the other being some sort of DPS. For instance the Sith Inquisitor's AC "Assassin" has the three skill trees: Darkness (Tank Tree), Deception (Backstab Enhancements), and Madness (Shared Tree with other AC, provides AoEs, Bleeds, etc..). There are only 4 ACs that are purely DPS.

Altogether, grouping is the most effective way to level in this game. BioWare built the game with Solo in mind - but really, Group 2+ (Meaning an effective group of 2 Players + 2 Companions) and Group [4] (Meaning an effective group of 3 Players + 1 Companion or 4 Players, preferably with a tank and healer) quests will yield you much better XP/Gold. Beyond that, the group quests are fun (and yield you Social Points). While every planet has plenty of solo quests, there are a significant amount of group quests as well. High recommendations for finding members pre-launch and having some side-characters that you simply roll with for group quests. It will make the game that much more enjoyable.

How are you enjoying it? What Advanced Class did you pick for your SW? Have you done any of the Group 2+/Group 4 quest-chains and how was your experience? Will you buy this game once it is released? Do you think it will hold your attention beyond the initial months? What is your experience with previous MMOs (and what things about them did you find most satisfying on a general level so we know your appeal to these kind of games) - and with that experience, how would you rate this game? As a SW, what planets have you been to so far? How would you speak on their size and appropriateness?

I have two friends in it - with one who offers us write-ups at various points. He is currently playing an Sith Inquisitor, as well, that is level +30. His write-ups are very well organized and have given me a clear view of objective things about the game. That being said, he is insanely biased in that he is an immense Star Wars fan and has been drooling over this game ever since it was announced. Still, I trust his opinion and we tend to like the same kind of games.

@DeviantJoker: It's not fan speculation, in the Threat of Peace web comic Darth Barus says he wants Satele because she has Revan's blood.  /The Old Republic nerdiness.

I haven't read the comic for a while now, but if you are referring to this page, even he says IF. I am well aware of how very likely it is she is a descendant of Revan, even her page on the official site has "Blood of Revan" on it (albeit hidden). But I would not say it is 100% confirmed yet. I wouldn't argue against any claims she is, maybe we can get Donald Trump to fetch a birth certificate from Hawaii.

Previous to the "ramp-up" you'd get the carrot here and there from betaleak or simply need to know a friend in it. It was too restrictive and people were wary of losing their positions. Now - more and more are getting in, and more and more is leaking out. It's been going on a lot this last month. Also, I mispoke previously myself - but please note  Satele Shan is a descendant of Bastila (not a direct daughter being this is +300 years post KotOR I) and a very highly fan speculation of being an descendant of Revan as well. I'd be shocked if she wasn't a descendant of Revan, but... it's not 100% confirmed (prior to SWTOR, that is).

@FlamingHobo:  When TOR fails to get over 2 million subs, and quickly falls down to WoW, as opposed to killing WoW; the investors will be on a warpath

John Riccitiello has stated in conference call straight to investors that they should be expecting 500k subscriber initially to be substantially profittable

“So it’s our view that we can be very successful without fundamentally challenging the market leader, because we think we’ll probably hit the smaller competitors harder when we get out there. Of course, we have no particular ambition to be a distant number two. Our ambitions are higher than that, but we throttle back a little bit relative to our financial projections.”

Sounds like he's padding expectations. Something I think everyone would benefit from. If you have different sources, please feel free to link them. The real question is 3 months or even 6 months out, will this game continue with that number?
