@sidekick-trio: Don't get me wrong, there were lots of times during this whole thing where I think people could have argued their positions better.
But GotY is sort of an inherently reductive discussion no? When the games are so good and have such a narrow margin being reductive almost seems necessary unless the format changes.
@sidekick-trio: Yeah I'm about halfway through day five and Dan's argument against Dream Daddy is so shallow and ignorant and short sightened. It's infuriating me.
That's really interesting considering neither Abby or Vinny have any experience with dating sims/visual novels and yet were making the claim that dream daddy pushes the genre forward without having any authority on this type of game. If Ryan was here this would've been called out and squashed without hesitation.
This is a good point. Maybe there needs to be someone who has more of a moderator role. But these podcasts are so mentally and probably physically intense that I imagine after a certain amount of hours it's difficult to have the group continue to maintain cohesive structure in an argument
@lava: I agree, but the arguments for Dream Daddy being on the Top Ten I feel are equally flimsy.
It would be hard to argue that Dream Daddy is the best Visual Novel (Doki Doki Literature Club) or the best Dating Sim (Persona 5) that came out last year.
In a year packed with so many great games, it's hard to say it deserves a spot.
