Kevin Smith Remembers Ryan Davis

I was listening to Hollywood Babble-On this afternoon, and to my surprise, Kevin Smith, had some really nice words to say about Ryan Davis. It's been over a week and the outpouring of love continues. Only further testament of the reach that Ryan Davis had. Here is the link to the clip I posted on my blog.

Er, he couldn't even remember his name, and he only mentioned him purely because of the many requests on twitter. Not trying to devalue his sentiment, but comon now, he barely knew him.

@yummylee: Not gonna disagree with your point. I just think it's nice that his reach is beyond the gaming community, and did extend to podcasting in general.

So is Kevin Smith like a professional blogger now? Red State sucked dick, but he had some pretty good stuff early on.

This particular segment of Hollywood Babble-on is about giving a shout out to dead celebrities. They don't need to know them. Kevin is also a heavy puffer, so I'm no longer surprised when he doesn't remember something. Good on him for doing it though.

Kinda, he's been doing Q&As, podcasts and semi-stand-up for a long time. It's good, since the man is clearly out of his element whenever he steps out of the ViewAskew series. Clerks II and everything before (apart from Jersey Girl) was brilliant.

Man, all these people with identical or near-identical RTD avatars are really throwing me off.

That said, cool beans. Always neat when my interests intersect. And I liked Red State o_O

Seconded. I was disappointed at first, since I was under the impression that it was a horror movie when I first heard about it, but I was entertained by what it ended up being.

Of course, the presence of John Goodman instantly makes me like a movie more, so there's that.

He didn't have to know or follow Ryan, he acknowledged how important him and jeff are to the podcasting medium (he's a pretty big name in podcasting, so that's why it connected with him). It was a nice sentiment

He at least acknowledged that Ryan was a person and looked up his wikipage.
That's better than nothing!

I think it's neat to see someone who doesn't know Ryan and isn't in the videogame industry give him some props purely based on his podcasting prowess.

The first 20-25 minutes of the movie were really good. The same part that was mostly used for the trailer...the rest of it, not so much. It's kind of all over the place after that. But that's just me. There was one really good part of the movie, the performance of Micheal Parks was amazing in my opinion.

Oh man, that whole monologue was fantastic. It just kept going and going, and somehow it never felt too verbose. Hell of a performance.

Red State was definitely a victim of him thinking that he's good at writing while stoned. The movie couldn't figure out what it wanted to be.
