@Malachi: I often feel like I'm in the same boat.  Between work, a new daughter and life in general my gaming time is less and less these days.  Ultimately it comes down to how gaming fits into the hierarchy of your other priorities - if you're not enjoying games any more stop playing, if you still find games you love to play keep at it.  I'm personally just more selective in what I play given my limited time - it may take me a month of more for a single playthrough, but it's not a hobby I want to give up.

The timing of this announcement just happened to coincide with the beginning of the local NPR station's fall pledge drive - I see parallels between these services.  Both are providing content free of charge to anyone who wants it.  Both have opted to reach out directly to their user base for support rather than depend on advertisers.  This allows them a degree of freedom in what they can create that a more commercial operation lacks.  You don't have to pay, but if you are an avid consumer of what they produce I think you need to at least seriously consider supporting the people who are making all that great content for you.  I've seen too many fantastic websites either fail due to lack of cashflow or become beholden to advertisers as opposed to the users - I don't want that to happen to GB or any of the Whiskey sites.

And yes, I just compared Giant Bomb to public radio.  Brad Shoemaker is my Carl Kasell.  Can I get his voice on my home answering machine???

@Romination:
Yeah, the main Powell's in downtown Portland is something like 68,000 sq ft.  The store is all color coded to help you find your way around, there are over 100 sections and over 3,000 subsections.

Go to Powell's - a huge independent bookstore (takes up an entire city block) carrying tons of new and used books.  Great way to kill a few hours or a whole day.

Two of my favorites are Drunken Gamers and Gamers With Jobs. DG is a little quirky, with a large part of the show consisting of drunken rambling rather than game talk, but the guys are pretty hilarious. Don't expect as much info on the current crop of games as the Bombcast, they talk a lot about older games and niche genres like shmups. GWJ is a bit more serious than the Bombcast, they have fairly in-depth discussions on gaming topics with a rotating cast. Both are by folks outside the gaming industry, they do this as a hobby. More of an average person's perspective than a pro site like GB.
