The Real (Deal) Return Blog

Ok, last night's blog didn't go too well. Blame alcohol for that, I guess. Also, Hamz wanted me to write a better blog, though I doubt that's gonna happen because I am horrible at blogs.. But let's get started.

First off, I want to thank the dudes who stuck by me when things went down, all my bros on the site and IRC: you guys are brilliant. Big thanks to Sweep and Lies for their constant "SO ARE YOU UNBANNED YET?"'s every other day, always made me smile.

And now I don't really know what else to say. Look forward to seeing more sharks being piledrived, and bears on horses protecting the masses from trolls. Also, more Touhou page editing, been choking to do some of that for a long time now. Maybe I'll do some sort of weekly videogame music blog or something, who knows?

Ok yeah, I have no idea what else I should say. Like I said, I suck at this. So, uh let me just sum it up, I guess.

Feels good to be back.

Who I'd Like to Meet: GiantBomb Style

I posted this list in the "Who would you like to meet in person on GiantBomb" thread, but I feel that I should post it here to give a shoutout to all of you awesome dudes and dudettes who I could envision myself hanging out with one day:

Vaxadrin - Funny as fuck. His attitude towards other people was hilarious to watch.
Carlos - The crazy Mexican that I like to defenestrate and piledrive.
Jax - Dude fucked his 40 year old neighbour. He's a hero!
Casey/Pleasureismine - Admittedly, I didn't like him at first, but now I think he'd be a sound guy to chill with.
DualReaver - We'll never forget you, fellow soldier.
systech - I'll show him the true meaning of viral marketing.
ZeroCast - Although he can be a bit too serious at times, he's a really kind guy that anyone can get along with. Would love to try and pressure him into a drinking contest.
brukaoru - She understands the greatness of piledriving sharks, and is a fellow officer of the Bear on Horse Brigade.
Tanuki - Loved seeing him try and woo bru for what seemed like an eternity, it's a shame he gave up. Me and everyone else on this list would take him out and introduce him to some ladies.
Coonce - Down to earth dude who I could sit back and have a drink with. After that we'd hit a casino (he'd get me in through his connections to the mob) and make it big.
tokyochicken - Annoying him about his girly laugh would prove to be very entertaining.
Claude - One of the soundest guys I know on this site. We all love you, Claude!
MrMiyagi - Dude has the same birthday as me!
Johnny5 - He shouts at his food while he's cooking it. I can just imagine him shouting at bartenders to get his goddamn drink already.
Coltonio7 - I want to get him and systech to hook up already.
Drew - We're having a secret love affair. Wait what?
Snide - Another sound duder. Talking to him on BSHAF had me thinking that it'd be awesome to get drunk together and then go to a rave or something/
Jayge - He's what I like to call a "true bro". He's the dude I'd go drinking with every weekend and then we'd wake up halfway across the country.
BiggerBomb - I confuse the hell out of him for some reason. That'd be entertaining to watch.
Rowr - One of my bros. Rowr knows how to be funny, sarcastic and patronising at the same time. I can also see him being my shark-piledriving disciple.
Jensonb - I need to teach this bastard how to be a true Scotsman.
Virago - Her and bru make a great team, and I know the ultimate way to seduce her.
dankempster - Another one of my bros. He's the dude that I'd have a fight with and then we'd laugh after it's over.
BoG - Yet another bro. We'd investigate murders together, and then we'd spike piledrive the culprit.
Hamz - A fellow Scotsman that understands the awesomeness of Irn-Bru. We'd participate in drinking contests together and take home boatloads of cash.
SuperMooseman - Sometimes a sarcastic bastard, sometimes a funny bastard. We could totally be a comedy duo.
Ravey
- Me and Moosey would meet Ravey halfway through our career and form a comedy trio. After that, we'd travel the world in true adventure game style.
Lies -
He could do with a night out alongside everyone on this list.
JackiJinx
- Just so I could put her in a mental hospital.
MaSuTa
- I want to hear him talk about wrestling and music while I'm under the influence of several glasses of straight vodka.
jakob187
- This bastard needs to learn that you CANNOT piledrive the goddamn master of piledriving.
LordAndrew
- I want to see the stash under his futon.
suneku
- I need to tell him face-to-face that his name doesn't mean Snake.
Red
- One of the few dudes I could have a lengthy JRPG talk with.
Sweep
- SWEEP'OSAURUS! 00SWEEP! He's another one of my bros, and I'd love to get absolutely shit-faced with him on several occassions. After that, we'd whip put our vortexes.

You're all awesome people, and one of the main reasons I come back to GiantBomb day after day.

Reviving an Old Feeling (Persona 4 Spoilers)

Over these past couple of years, I've been playing games only to feel like there's something missing. Even if I really enjoyed the game, I'd always feel dissatisfied by something, and I could never put my finger on it. That was, last night, when I beat Persona 4 and reached the true ending.

A heartworming conclusion to a stunning game.
A heartworming conclusion to a stunning game.
Making my way through the final dungeon, I began to feel a sense of dissapointment. I was worried that I was getting bored of the game after 63 hours, but nevertheless, I pressed on to the final boss. After having a rush of excitment due to the grueling and unforgiving battle against Izanami, this feeling returned, and it remained until everyone was gathered at the train station and the anime cutscene triggered. It was then that I realised, as everyone began to chase the train and Never More started playing, just why I had this feeling of dissapointment.

The game was over. Everything that I'd done in those 63 hours had come to a conclusion. All the social links built, all the character development, all the story progression. It was all over. Hell, dissapointment isn't even the right word here; I'd say sadness fits the bill more. I was sad that the game was over, that something great had come to an end; a feeling I haven't experienced since I completed Final Fantasy IX almost 7 years ago, something which I consider to be a breakthrough, as I never expected any other game to come close to FFIX, let alone equal it.

All I can do now is thank Atlus for reminding me of what I'm truly looking for in a game, and for providing two weeks full of nothing but a great experience.

Apologies if this is cheesy and poorly written. I'm not that good at writing seriously like this, but I felt like I just had to write this no matter what. Weird.
