I've put a few hours into Phantom Pain, one of the things that stands out to me is that Venom looks quite a bit different from Big Boss. For one thing he looks younger, even after 9 years have passed (supposedly). So seems like they are just broadcasting this. I find the game a bit frustrating to play, hopefully once I level up a little things will get a bit easier but in the first 10 missions or so this game makes me want to throw my controller.

well, guess we'll have to wait for Metal Gear Solid: Big Boss Goes on Vacation to finally know what Big Boss was up to during the events of The Phantom Pain.

Good grief. I'm confused. So we're not actually playing as Big Boss in this game? How do we know then that the Snake in Ground Zeroes is the real big boss?

Spoiler city below! Be warned!!

The twist is said to be that you play as BB in GZ, and it is the medic that goes into the 9 year coma. They all decide to make the medic believe he is BB so the real BB can stay off the radar, as everyone wants him dead. Venom learns the truth, takes it badly, and it is him who starts the Outer Heaven uprising.

Then for Metal Gear, it is actually Venom Snake that Big Boss sends Solid Snake to Outer Heaven to kill.

Well, I wouldn't put it past Kojima to pull something like that.

Dan Ryckert "Food Idiot" is the best way to describe him.

Dan is challenged in more ways than food. But its not our place to make fun of him, that's Jason's job. ;) Love ya dan.

That's good news, I've never played RE2. Still, they haven't even announced RE7 yet. What's up with that? Were they so burned after RE6 they are afraid to do another one ever again? I know, pull a Microsoft and skip RE7 and go straight to Resident Evil VIII. The roman numerals help distance the game even further from RE6.

From the article:

Good stuff.

What.

what the fuck is this shit. Is the article as bad as the cover? I'm going to float off and continue tuning out of cable television and "mainstream" bs as I have been for the past decade.

VR is something that never really interested me. Being shut off from the real world to that degree is something that scares me, to be honest. Frankly, I've kind of been rooting for it to fail a little bit because I'm envisioning this future where all games are VR. (I know that's a irrational, silly thing to worry about and there's always gonna be games without VR, even if the technology takes off.) But even I can recognize that this is a disaster. Any normal person that looks at this cover is gonna laugh at it and think it's some nerd bullshit, especially with the common perception that already exists that people are just gonna use this technology to fuck cartoon characters.

I don't think VR is doomed or anything but it's such a hard sell to most people who never get the chance to have a hands-on experience and this will definitely not help.

Remember when 3D TV's were a thing? I think we'll just be piling VR on to the same heap. I can think of some interesting aspects to it (pilot a drone equipped with VR friendly cameras, etc.) but for the most part I could less about VR.

yeah, but really VR is kinda... dumb. Sorry. But lets get serious for a moment. Don't do drugs and photoshop magazine covers. Just don't do it!

Wow, that's nuts. I would imagine most if not all developers currently at Konami are looking for a way out. On top of this it seems like Konami isn't really putting much focus on games as part of their overall business anyway.
