Games On Demand - May 1, 2010

Ah, Australia. Your beautiful beaches, your friendly people. Your gouging bloodsuckers.

According to xe.com, on the 1st of May, 2010, the exchange rate for AUD to USD was 1.00AUD = 0.924100USD. So let's see what that means. All info was taken from the US and AU version of the xbox live marketplace on the web, not the console. US prices are in USD, AU prices are in AUD with the US equivalent in brackets.

I didn't do the Xbox originals but Microsoft charges The AUS $50 (46.2050) for the 3000 points card on their site.

Steam has to comply to this sort of stuff too. It's so fun.

List items

  • The US - $19.95

    The AUS - $49.95 (46.1588)

    Army of x2.3137

  • The US - $29.95

The AUS - Wasn't listed. Will check later.

  • The US - $19.99

    The AUS - $49.95 (46.1588)

So that's just under 5 AU cents per achievement point. How can you possibly say no? Well, easily, but still.

I hit refresh on both pages 3 times. Aside from the fact that I had to look this game up (page is pretty bare), I'm still amazed. No doubt someone's going to get fired for not ripping us off enough.

  • The US - $19.99

    The AUS - $29.95 (27.6768)

I was tempted to write out the entire lyrics of Paradise City, but I know that would just backfire on me somehow.

  • The US - $19.99

    The AUS - $49.95 (46.1588)

Really? The ripoff isn't bad enough but you're going to charge more for this than you do for Paradise? Bizarre.

    The AUS - $49.95 (46.1588)

I saved the DMC3 joke "I did enjoy that hour, though" for here because I know next to nothing about Dirt. There are vehicles? Drew liked the sequel? That's about it.
