@ntm: I'm not gonna tell you humans are all good intentions and what not.
The way I see it, if this was a realistic representation of human nature: We would have gone extinct long ago.
Think of all that we have been trough. Yet, we still here building civilization; mostly because we are social animals. We are drive to cooperation by instinct.
There are very interesting talks about all the chemicals that compel us to cooperate and be social.
In The Walking Death, there are plenty of irrational-nonsensical self-defeating decisions. That doesn't really map to what real humans would do in my opinion.
The same way I find Star Trek overly optimistic, I find The Walking Dead overly negative. They are both hyperbolic statements of human nature for the sake of dramatization, but I just find The Walking Dead tiresome.
Got tired with so much negativity, exploiting the worst of human nature for the sake of entertainment. I mean I don't know, I don't want to get preachy, but I hardly think it paints a realistic view of human nature.
If so natural disasters and real life tragedy have historically proven that human are solidary. It is in our nature, we are a social species.
For me The Walking Dead always felt like the Fox News of prime TV shows, nothing but fear mongering, be paranoid they said.
I commend campo santo's stance on this matter, would like other developers to do the same. As a web developer myself, it puzzles me to know that perhaps some of my work is being use, enjoy, or even profited by racist. Personally I just re-bought firewatch in the Mac Store (eventhough I have the steam version) to support their action.
I rather take the economic bite, than cross arms while society further deteriorate
So I don't know, I still listen the Giantbombcast religiously. But, other than that yeah, I found myself getting video game coverage and discovering interesting new games in other places.
I mean found the Totalbiscuit coverage of games more interesting these days than Giantbomb's... and I don't really like Totalbiscuit personality. But, hey dude does a good job of curating good games.
