Games I Played (Featuring Ninjas)
A list of some games that I've played, which also happened to have playable, prominent, or masses of ninja(s). I should probably play the Tenchu series someday.
A list of some games that I've played, which also happened to have playable, prominent, or masses of ninja(s). I should probably play the Tenchu series someday.
NEO GEO - Hien - Ninja are capable of striking from anywhere, even from 60,000 ft, in a Japanese F-16! (FSX) How anyone can get any sleep, with ninja prowling the heavens, is beyond me!
Arcade/NES - Almost all the bad guys. Who wouldn't welcome a burger from the president after spending days fighting ninjas?
Arcade - Playable ninja character
Arcade/SNES - Ginzu the ninja.
PS3 - Children wearing the ninja costume turn into real ninja in battle. (Also stealth powers outside of combat.)
PS3 - Playable class with add-on - Here the struggle against their pirate adversaries continues! Rumor has it that some ninja have been caught working WITH pirates... Say it ain't so!
NES/PS1/GBA - The thief eventually becomes a ninja, and redeems himself for not contributing much until then.
DS - Ninja class
SNES/PS1/PSP - Edge, price of Eblan. Dual-wielding katana master, skill at throwing shurikens, and user of awesome ninja magic.
SNES/PS1/GBA - Ninja class - The game that showed me how stupid all non-ninja are, for everyone else is incapable of using both hands at once, without the instruction of a master of ninjitsu.
SNES/GBA - Shadow, the ninja and his companion Interceptor. The second game added to this list to have a ninja with a canine companion (see: Shadow Dancer), this proves that ninja are in fact dog, and not cat people.
PS1 - Yuffie - She didn't look much like a ninja, but apparently she was.
PS2 - Ninja class in Rise of the Zilart expansion
PS1/PSP - Playable ninja class - Now with female ninja!
GBA - Playable ninja class - Turbans! Proving that ninja can come from all walks of life!
Arcade - Guy is apparently trained in ninjitsu, AND in hooking up friends with hot women. (See: end game.)
SNES - Guy is a master of ninjitsu. Also, Maki is supposed to be one.
NES - Once again, Guy is a master of ninjitsu. This time with new "Street Fighter-like" skills.
PS3 - Guy is a master of ninjitsu. It says so on his business card.
NES - Snake Eyes - Who were the two best characters in G.I. Joe? Most children of the '80s would have answered "Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow!" Oh yeah.
NES - Snake Eyes
Saturn - One of the main characters, Ginjirou Ibushi.
PC - Zhao Chi
SNES - Jago
NEO GEO - Mai. Also, Andy Bogard seems to practice a form of ninjitsu.
NEO GEO - Mai & Andy.
NEO GEO - Mai & Andy.
PS2 - Mai, Andy & Eiji
PS1 - Mai & Andy
PS2 - Mai & Eiji. Also: Andy.
PS3 - Mai & Andy. They look a bit odd in this one if you ask me. (Great game, however.)
PC - Several playable characters. Akali, Kennen, Shen, etc...
SNES - Main character (Goemon)
PS1 - A playable character and various enemies.
Arcade/SNES - Ninja companion.
PS1/Arcade - Strider Hiryu
PS3 - Strider Hiryu & Psylocke.
PS1/GameCube - The Cyborg ninja. Not sure that he had ninja training though... Hmm Must have been uploaded.
PS3 - The Cyborg ninja. Don't think he had ninja training. Again, either downloads, or maybe excellent VHS training tapes...
NES - Guy is a master of ninjitsu, and chibiness.
PS3 - Sub-zero, Scorpion, and a whole lot more.
Arcade/SNES/PS3 - Sub-zero, Scorpion, and Reptile.
Arcade/PS3 - Sub-zero, Scorpion, and tons more.
NES - Ryu Hayabusa - Probably the most famous video game ninja, though many younger players might choose his more recent iteration. (See #6) This is the game responsible for informing us of true eternal enemy of the ninja... No, not pirates... Birds of prey!
NES - Ryu Hayabusa - This time, he has two ninja shadows to help him out.
NES - Ryu Hayabusa - Now with upgradable sword, and hanging from pipe... uh powers.
Game Boy - Main character - Ninja Gaiden Noire? Er... ombre, I guess.
Arcade - Main character & many of the cloned enemes. - Beat 'em up style. Love the buzz saw game over sequence.
PS3 - Ryu Hayabusa - Challenging and fun, but how does Rachel manage to walk without falling over?
NEO GEO - Both main characters
GBA - Main character (Joe Osugi) - What a neat game! I probably shouldn't have sold my copy.
TG16 - Main character and enemies.
SNES - Both main characters - Two of the Foot clan ninjas from the Turtles games must have been captured by John Connor and reprogrammed to save the world.
PC - Isako the female ninja and her clan.
PS2 (SFA: Anthology) - Ibuki - Beware her cute chibi/super deformed power!
Arcade - Playable ninja character
Genesis - Joe Musashi - My favorite of the series, and my first Genesis game. Jumping across waterfalls, via falling vertically arranged logs, awesome flips (What ninja doesn't like to flip out?), and a superb soundtrack. (Thanks Yuzo Koshiro!)
NEO GEO - Hanzo, Galford, etc... A third game with a dog trained in ninjitsu? The verdict is in! Cats beware!
NEO GEO - Hanzo, Galford, etc...
NEO GEO - Hanzo, Galford, etc...
NEO GEO - Hanzo, Galford, etc...
PS3 - Many of the enemies in the 4th level and Roxanne. - This game is nostalgic nirvana for beat 'em up/brawler fans. (Also on 360 for those of you cool enough to have one.)
Genesis - Joe Musashi - I prefer the gameplay style of Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III, but this is a fine tribute to the original game in the series. Now with a faithful canine sidekick! The bonus stage music was amazing.
SNES - Both main characters - One of the better NES ninja titles.
Arcade/Master System/NES - Main character, Joe Musashi. Who didn't find the bonus stages cool at the time? This game was responsible for making me aware of the incredible secret arts at the disposal of a ninja master. (Ninja magic.)
Genesis - Joe Musashi - Technically better than "Revenge", with the numerous gameplay improvements. A superb ninja game, but I like the music in the second game more. So far, the only ninja game I've come across with a jet ski sequence.
PS1 - Taki - This woman must have taught Rachel from Ninja Gaiden how to balance, because I don't see how they could stand up properly with those...
GameCube - Taki
PS2 - Taki
PS3 - Taki
PS2 (Anniversary)/PS3 - Ibuki
PS2 (Anthology) - Guy is a master of ninjitsu, as I've mentioned MANY times.
PS1/PS2 - Guy is probably a master of ninjitsu. AGAIN.
PS1/PS2 - Yes, yet again, Guy is a master of ninjitsu.
Genesis/PS3 - Some of your foes.
Genesis - Some of your foes. Is there a ninja rental store that I am unaware of?
NES - Strider Hiryu - Great side-scrolling action game with RPG elements.
Arcade/Genesis - Strider Hiryu - Ninja from the future AND first mainstream 8 megabit game cartridge. Made me proud to have a Genesis. (I love SNES too.) Note how Strider Hiryu makes use of many robotic allies, including a bird, jungle cat, and more. Proof that in the future, ninja will defeat and subjugate their ancient avian foes, and begin working with feline as well as canine partners!
PS1 - Strider Hiryu - Pretty cool, but the unlimited continues were not to my liking. Good thing self-discipline solves that, and everyone knows how important discipline is to a ninja!
PSP/SNES - Ninja class
GameCube - Sheena - Quite the hottie!
NES - The main characters and many of their foes. Ninja are so grim in their determination, that they are willing to mutate their teenagers, and send them into battle! Such resolve!
NES - The main characters and many of their foes.
SNES - The main characters and many of their foes. - Ninja ARE timeless, but in this one, they're all over the time-space continuum.
Game Boy - The main characters and many of their foes.
Genesis - The main characters and many of their foes. - The Genesis gets some love too!
SNES - The main characters and many of their foes. Also with Blast Processing... Uh, on the Genesis/Mega Drive. ...and the NES for some reason.
PS3 - Strider Hiryu & Psylocke
PS3 - Sub-zero, Scorpion, and well... So many ninjas, they may as well call it "Ultimate Ninja Kombat 3". Really. This game has a LOT of ninja in it.
Genesis - Kage-Maru
NEO GEO - Hanzo & Fuuma
NES - Sure ninja assassinate people at random, but they save children all the time. It's totally okay! (See Shinobi/Shadow Dancer.)
Genesis - Members of "The Hand", a ninja clan which several of the X-Men in the game are acquainted with. Also, Psylocke is supposed to be a ninja.
Saturn - Psylocke
SNES - Psylocke
PC (DOS) - The last? Say it ain't so! Oh hey, it's also the last on this list! Screw you alphabetical order!
