I've had the same problems through the years with LIVE and have done all your steps as well. From what I've read LIVE is quite particular and certain routers work better than others. It seems I finally get my NAT type open and then 4 months go by and i'm back to the bullshit again of trying to remember what worked. Halo games have been far and away the most picky with NAT types. Honestly at this point I am thinking of finally junking this verizon POS router.
Great write up. It really lays out all the facts about how gross the sound in mario games have been. Personally I thought even the first new super mario bros. had music that wasn't standing time. I can verify this by the fact that my kids still play this game almost weekly and the music truly grates on me. However when mario galaxy gets thrown in the mix I think of what a masterpiece the sound design was.
I really hope they go to war with these shi*tbags. This is my go to multiplayer game and have always enjoyed the series. I've always thought one of the only things saving it from hacker hell was its less than popularity as opposed to MW. EA's constant server issues don't make me to assured that they can tackle a series threat.
I recently picked up pinball fx2. As you can purchase the tables individually you could get two for that price. I haven't been this addicted to an xbla game since pac man champ dx. I just can't stop playing them!
