Adventure Game Playlist - 2013

With recently purchasing a new PC, I had decided to start packing up my consoles and start back tracking through some PC titles that I'd missed out on over the last few years. That was the plan, anyway. What has occurred however is that between Steam and GOG purchases, I have inadvertently decided to make 2013 the year of adventure gaming. About half of the list below I've played before, but some are new purchases.

List items

  • COMPLETED - I loved this game when it was called Circle of Blood, and only find the new tacked on Nico additions slightly out of place. This game does humor well, and the world spanning adventure combined with art make this one of my favorite games of all time.

  • PAUSED - I've started this. Fiddled around with the controls, bought XPADDER, plugged in my XB360 controller and have finally started having fun with the game. Not a fan of the 3D conversion of the game, but I'm enjoying the game more than anticipated. Paused because I was starting to go into Rolf Saxon overload.

  • STARTED / ON HOLD - Bought it because I'm a completionist, but I've heard nothing but terrible things about this game. I've barely played enough to make a call one way or the other, although I don't like the design for George. We'll see.

  • CURRENTLY PLAYING - Oops, I hadn't realized that Post Mortem was the first game in the series, but I've started Still Life and am somewhat enjoying it so far. I had actually purchased the XBOX version when I had first gotten my 360, but was disappointed when it wasn't backwards compatible. The game isn't really worth the wait (so far) but I'm enjoying it.

  • UP NEXT - To start on after Still Life.

  • I'll go back to this at somepoint, but I have a feeling I'll need a change of franchises.

  • Okay, so I'm skipping the first two games as I just played them last year. I haven't played GK3 since it came out and I ended up being disappointed with the whole 3D thing. I hope I can enjoy the game a little more this time around. By no means a terrible game, but the weakest of the franchise.

  • About midway through the game. I've put it down, but it still hasn't got it hooks in me for some reason. Perhaps so many other games have a nostalgia factor. I'll get back to this.

  • COMPLETED - My first Pendulo game. Short, but I enjoyed the initial twist and puzzles. Game was actually a decent length as the plot was starting to sour on me by the end.

  • Playing this concurrently with most of the other games. LOVING the humor. I'll probably be stringing this one out for a while.

  • The next franchise to tackle when I push through the Still Life series.

  • I found my discs for UAKM and Overseer and have re-purchased Martian Memorandum and Pandora Directive. I'm skipping Mean Streets as a) no more flying, I really enjoyed the mechanic when I was 10, but I don't have as much time or patience in my 30s and b) Overseer has more or less the same story with some better production value (if reduced gameplay.)

I think I may hold off until Project Fedora shakes out, however.

  • I've heard some good things about the latter games in this franchise, and will give it a shot this year.

  • I CANNOT WAIT for the new release in this franchise. I still have Dreamfall to finish on the XB360 GoD, and may hold off until the new game launches.

  • Again, extremely excited for this. I loved last year's Walking Dead, a comic I could't ever get into and a TV show I've since stopped caring about. TT created a great game that used the setting well. I love the Fables series (Bill Willingham is a genius) but am slightly concerned on the structure of the game. As long as the game isn't simply the Legends in Exile story arc, or all they do simply shove fan service down my throat, I think I may be happy.

  • Still hesitant to go back into these, as Yesterday was OK (it didn't leave me indifferent but...) These may wait until later.

  • Still tracking down a copy, but I do want to play Jane Jensen's return to relevant PC Adventure gaming.

  • While I had a poor experience with SH vs Jack the Ripper (game breaking bug on the XB360 wiped out all my progress, sigh - only keeping one save file can be a real pain in the ass) I do want to go back to this series as the puzzles were actual fairly decent.

  • I've heard great things about the game, and it's on the list to be played
