I know it is pretty cliche right now to have some complaints about Nintendo and the Wii, but I really am trying to find a reason to hook it up to my TV on a regular basis.  It has been said several times before, but the eminent release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 has me contemplating whether or not I am going to bother with the purchase at all.  I consider myself a lover of the proper Mario titles, and I loved the first Galaxy.  I am just not finding the motivation to get the Wii out of the closet and hook it up.  It really makes me wonder how many of the millions of people actually play their system.  I know they have made a lot of sales, and first party games tend to sell well, but that is about all.  Just a thought when thinking about the next system that they will put out and the 3DS.  I have never understood the fervor surrounding the Nintendo faithful, but I consider myself a fan since owning the NES when it first came out.   I just don't have the excitement anymore.

@risseless:
It seemed that all of this broke down 1 1/2 weeks ago.  I was editing the Atari page when I noticed this.  Thanks for the info on the same issue. I was trying to avoid doubling a post.

I tried to make sure that this was not logged earlier, but I could not see anything about this.  I pm'd a mod about this (Marino) when I noticed it, but there are still problems with editing the Games Developed/Games Published pages.  I am only able to delete and add games when using IE8.  All of the other browsers that I use only allow you basic edit access which is useless on these pages.  When I first encountered the problem last weekend, IE had the same issues, so it seems like this has sorted itself out.

It seems like my pile of shame is growing ever-larger as the months pass by.  I have not really been playing that much recently after I went on an achievement binge for almost 6 months straight, I gained 20,000+ in that time, and the games continue to pile up.  I was thinking that April would be the time in which I would be able to catch up, but alas that has not happened.

My big pile of shame:

  • Uncharted 2
  • Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Final Fantasy 13
  • Fallout 3
  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • Tales of Monkey Island (new TellTale series)
  • Majesty 2
  • Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time
  • New Super Mario Brothers Wii

@fox01313:  There is in a way.  The major fan and tactical nuke quests are exactly that - except that you have to reach 1000 and 500 points in one single edit respectively.

I would love this, but I think it has a lot to do with the API and back end.  I have found that the vast majority of sites don't let you log in with phones.  It really makes me wish for a Giant Bomb app across all platforms (i.e. - not just the iPhone).

It's been over a week now with the game and I have to say that it is getting better the further that I get into it.  My one gripe and complaint is that it does not let you skip into the harder difficulties from the get-go.  I wish that I could pass some of the easier levels as they are too easy for a seasoned Picross player.  The 3D space really adds to the game play, and really forces you to come up with some new strategies to pass some of the puzzles - especially if you are trying to 3-Star them on the first try.  You have to think in a different way, which is a welcome change to the game.  This is my new Lumines.

I just went to see the remake of this classic horror movie yesterday, and I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about it.  Let me start by saying that I went in with very low expectations, and it was definitely worth the $9 admission for the death scenes alone, but I was left a little cold towards the movie.  I like a lot of the things that they tried to do with this one considering the technology leap that nearly 30 years will bring.  The killings were more visceral, and the ambiance of the nightmares were quite enjoyable, but it lacked the heart and soul of the original.  After thinking about it for almost a day, I think it was that the guy playing Krueger was in a no-win situation.  He was excellent in The Watchmen, but his face constantly took me out of the movie because Freddy had such an iconic one.    Overall, it was enjoyable, but I wish that it had the love and attention that Rob Zombie's remakes of Halloween 1 & 2 had.  Those were truly worthy remakes in my mind.

I have been looking forward to some new quests, as I have finished almost all of them.

In some ways, I am pleased that we do not have to wait another two years for the next volume in this series, but I am not sure how I feel about this game.  It feels sort of like Bioshock 2 did for me, and I am not just complaining about a sequel to a stellar game.  Far from it, since the 2nd entry into this series was stellar.  It improved in every way possible to become the easy favorite between the two.  What I am not sure I want is a class-based multiplayer game in this genre of game.  I am not sure how it is going to work when so much of this game is the solitary experience you have in traversing around the cities undetected.  If it is confirmed that it is Ubisoft Montreal doing this, many of my fears will be for nothing.  I just have a feeling with the short turnaround that this is going to be passed to their Shanghai studios.
