One thing Sim Racers need to start doing.

I was playing Forza 3 and I noticed something. Why doesn't the computer upgrade their cars to match mine? I have it with no assist on hard in a 06' Focus with like 2 engine mods and suspension work. The computer is in stock car of the same E class and I easily outrunning them. Now what if the computer upgraded their cars randomly? The engine for Forza 3 already can upgrade your car to the class that you choose. Why can't the computer use this same system on there cars? This would the game more random in the type of cars you face. So that Scion tC that is a lower 203 in the E class race can be upgraded with the rest of the cars make the race muce more exciting. What's the point of upgrading your cars if you opponent isn't doing the same?

You're just too damn good man.

Agreed, some of us need those better cars to win. Actually I always like to race stock cars in Forza anyways so I don't encounter this problem.

@MordeaniisChaos: Yeah I love those and the column next to it but for the rest? Look it's not a big problem to me because I'ma sim fantic (reset my forza 3 after being in season 6 racing R1). What i'm saying it where could sim racers go from here? Forza already has drift and just need tracks, most sim players don't care about this because they want to race there friends. This is mostly for those that want to play sim racers but the game is too repetitive for them. I have a friend who always races me with a G35 that I tuned for him with the little money hey made. I told him to keep racing and he doesn't want to after 2 races because its the same thing. He's not a gearhead so he isn't looking at the result like we tend to do. He's look at the fun he's having and medium like iam3greenstated is too easy and hard is too hard. It's just the same cars with better drivers than he is. He's never going to put the time to get better because he just wants to race cars hooked up cars. Problem is that fun he has with me racing another modded car is gone once he has to race the cpu and its just boring. Forza evolved the genre with it's decal system, why can't it just evolve it's upgrade system to expand the genre even more? IDK about you guys but the sim crowd doesn't stay big for too long because after a while only the real car guys stay and the guys that got too bored with the computer races quit. When GT5 came out and gave me the same game as GT3 with better graphics I was quickly turned away, I bet GT3 to 100% and GT4 to 80%, I did the grind before. I got into forza because I was able to go beyond just upgrading and tunning, I could do swaps and decal my car like a track car. Even if they are stock, stock track cars look like race cars, there all lowered and on track tires with rims. You don't see completly stock cars on tracks racing, EVER.

@iam3green: Yes the difficulty does jump by a huge margin but that is because on hard the computer doesn't miss an apex. If my system was implemented, they could just hook up the CPU cars more and the cars would be more competitive without making the computer gurus on the track.

I'll tell you what they're missing: when your car flips the driver should start cussing followed by a quick time event where he has to get out of his car, which is on fire. The game then jumps a couple of days and there is a mass effect style dialogue sequence where he must explain in front of the investors why he crashed

YES!

Also I agree with your blog completely.

@DuhQbnSiLo:  i do know kind of what you mean in the races. i beat forza 3 a couple of months ago. to me i found that the game was hard for me on hard, but it was easy for me on medium.

@iam3green: I dont have to downgrade, I try to only hook my cars enough to win, Its a 3 close races with the first 2 CPUs. There are only a few cars that can compete in ever class stock. So when you race you race the same cars. Like how the F class racers always have a trueno or a focus I believe. There's no variety because the rest of the F class cars suck stock. Now if the CPU randomly created cars and in one race there would be a upgraded datsun or something. I can change my car all I want, but I'm still going to race the same cars when I start any class race. Also this is a pet-peeve but I hate seeing my prep'd up baby racing a bunch of stock cows. I understand online is fun and all and I enjoy it but they make these careers so long, might as well make it fun. I know what I'm asking for isn't alot.

maybe you should downgrade your car then. the system gives you a number and class what the opponents are at.

i have to say that in the beginning of all racing games are kind of hard. you have a stock and they have more things in their cars.

I thought you were going to say that it should skip to a couple days after the race with scene similar to the opening of Mass Effect 2 where future technology is used to...

...repair the driver's body, which was horribly mangled, burned and effectively destroyed in the crash of...

...your class E car known as 'The Normandy'.

I think that's a very delicate balancing act.  Some people love to demolish the competition.  The game is also extremely hard when racing in close quarters with someone, which would happen more often.

IMO if a sim racer went the route of more challenging races by allowing other cars to upgrade I would want a bit deeper career mode.  Classes with specific cars allowed with very specific upgrade profiles.  A simple rating number wouldn't cut it.  In addition, we'd have to see more of a reason/reward to not finish first in a race, there's a lot of ways to accomplish that but its a lot more involved than just increasing the AI difficulty.  For me all my in game money in F3 came from selling vinyls/paints, but it was an uphill climb to get enough together to buy and upgrade the cars I wanted to paint etc, while still having enough to keep racing now and then.

Sim racing has never been about racing against the AI. In fact true sim racing is all spec classes to truly eliminate all variables of which car is faster and instead put it all down to driving skill.

Heh some good responses. To the OP: yeah good idea. Forza3 is good though in that you can see the PI of your opponents before you enter the race so at least you can match your car to theirs, thereby giving you the challenge you look for while saving you in game cash. Win-win. GT5 has a much less challenging solo player. In the end the racing vs the AI boat has sailed; I'm much more concerned about multiplayer and definitely hope they focus their resources there.
