Will the PS3's security problems ruin Killzone 3's multiplayer?

So I am not really sure what game to pick up on Feb. 22nd.  On one hand I have Bulletstorm which I would get for the 360 and then there is Killzone 3.  I really want to get Killzone 3 because I would much rather play a competitive shooter than a co-op one.

But with all the news about how fucked up the PSN is with hackers and what not I'm not sure if its such a good idea.  So does someone know something I don't? Has Sony already fixed the problem? Because I don't want to drop 60 bucks just to have my game over run with hackers.

Killzone 3 uses dedicated servers... right? If that's the case it should be pretty secure... hopefully..

" Damn. I can't believe that you guys actually believe that PSN is overrun with hackers. Listen very carefully to what I'm going to say...  Yeah, I modded my PS3. What of it? I've been following the PS3 modding seen for awhile now and from everything they brought out, the worse that is out there is a program to backup your games. There are no online game hacks out there in the modding scene. Yes, MW2 is overrun with hackers, but that's been the case since a few months after the game came out. And when did Geohot actually bring out the modding codes for the PS3? I believe it was some time around the middle and end of last year. Long after MW2 was hacked. As for Black Ops, the only problems people are experiencing is when the game had massive stuttering and I believe connection issues. That's all because Treyarch was taking care of their majority of buyers, the Xbox 360 people.  Anyways, I doubt anyones going to listen to me on this matter. So, to the OP, buy Killzone 3. I highly doubt you will run into any hackers at all. Yes, you will run into people that take advantage of glitches, but that can easily be taken care of through updates. "
You sound like you know what you're talking about.  Hope you're right.  :)

I think this statement is a little exaggerated...  the large majority of PSN users will probably never  notice any kind of hack imo.  Certain games will be more susceptible than others for sure, but with KZ3 being one of Sony's big flagship franchises, and the priority being placed on balance in this game... Sony will have a radar lock on this game for quite sometime looking for any hacks.

Sony are banning IP's left right and centre from hack ps3's

The simple fact is that even if you download killzone 3 illegally, you can't play on PSN PERIOD. you will get banned. If you have a hacked PS3 you will get banned PERIOD.

Seriously Sony in this case is protecting their interests and in turn this protects you.

I hope all those hackers will be track down and executed in PUBLIC!!! A 5 hour stretching, solitary confinement till they break, and giving them very painful disease like pus infections before they get Crucified then burned will fix the problem.

Only games which rely entirely on the PS3's built in security are being overrun with hackers. The most prominent cases at the moment are Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward didn't build in any game or server side security so they have basically lost control. On the other hand World at War and Black Ops are for the most part fine because Treyarch did. There has been enough time since the hack that I'm going to say Sony is making sure that every game that ships from now on has its own security features.

At least for now, the hacker situation on PS3 is no worse than it is on 360.  That may change in time.

I was actually told from someone that it was only Modern Warfare 2 and that Black ops was in pretty good shape.  But I still refuse to believe that.

Yeah, this does sound like my best bet.  My fingers are crossed.  I really want this games multiplayer to be fun and balanced.

I'm 95% sure that there will be no cheaters within the first couple of months for Killzone 3.  You're good.

god that would stop me rebuying a PS3, since mine broke there have only been a few games that made me think about buying a PS3 but this year with both this and little big planet 2, i have been running the numbers on a weekly basis with a view to buying one just before the Killzone 3 release.
I played 2 till my fingers bled, i love how "heavy" everything feels, the momentum in the movement and the way the game handles, combined with some of the best first person animations made that game really stand out for me as a great shooter.
