" I just dont want to have to pay to contribute to a wiki. I dont contribute so it's ok, but the whole paid thing has stopped me from ever contributing in the future. "
They've already got people to build the site for them, now they want them to pay to do their work for them too. How about we start buying the games for them as well.
I thought Political Base was the first site, although Anime Vice will soon join it in oblivion.
Anime has sucked for a very long time now, unless you're covering old favorites or going the porn route, there just isn't anything to cover unless you're just listing torrent sites.
I think it's clear that it will, after all, it's for the "VIPs" that paid $50 to support WHISKEY MEDIA , not just Giant Bomb. The show yesterday was basically a taste for what the Friday show will be like, so if you really enjoyed the Comic Vine, Screened, and Tested segments then guess what, you're going to see that every week. Enjoy.
So they want people to pay for subscriptions, but they are still going to have ads, so they are double-dipping on revenue. Wow, I seem to remember them talking about how slimy that was in XBL and in-game advertising. Hypocrites.
Make it $20 a year for just GB and I'll go, I don't like supporting the other sites I have no interest in. It's a fucking simple model really:
$20 a year per site or $50 a year for all of them, then it's a value for those that want the full monty, and those that only care about one or two of the sites will have a choice and not feel cheated.
This really pains me since I want to support GB, but I really can give a shit about the other Whiskey sites. Paying $50 a year to support four other sites I don't visit, one of which is automated and going under by the end of the year, is like paying for the full cable TV pack and only watching basic cable shows.
If they could add a tier for individual sites at say $20 a year I would gladly pay it.
