Games of the year 2015

Just like 2014 I only play games on the 2 Sony machines.

My review scale goes from 1 to 10 and I'll add a brief description of my experience with the title.

List items

  • [10/10] - Loving the world, the amazing gameplay and the mystique surrounding the game itself. This is bordering perfection for me, finally a developer that lets the gamer find stuff out. I've finished it in 46+ hours and immediately going back in again for some more!

    Fantastic!!

  • [10/10] - What a conclusion to this series. Leave it to Japan to create an Open World Game with actual good gameplay! Learn from this, Western developers, please. Fantastic sound design, interesting story elements, graphics that just look real with a 60 fps framerate. Farewell Snake, at last you were perfect.

  • [8/10] - So simple, yet so damn addicting and fun. I see myself coming back to this game the whole year through.

  • [8/10] - Rocksteady perfected their Batman game with Arkham Knight. Incredible looking city of Gotham, a badass looking Batmobile and the new character designs are amazing. This game feels polished and runs like a charm. Now go make something else, Rocksteady, because Batman is home.

  • [8/10] - Great puzzle platformer with a very unique gameplay system. The graphics and sound create a mysterious atmosphere that's fitting with the interesting story.

Had a great time playing this, some of the later puzzles are pretty challenging and beating them feels great!

  • [7/10] - Wow, the world of The Witcher 3 is amazing to ride through. The little (side) stories are very well written. It's a shame that the main story is not engaging at all and the combat and movement (which in the end is the core gameplay) is mediocre at best. I want to love this game, but it's just another testament that western RPG are all about the world and the scale, instead on focusing on great gameplay.

  • [7/10] - Tense hide and seek action in a very interesting setting. Great sounds and voice acting, decent graphics and a very awesome overall story makes this a great Halloween treat.

  • [7/10] - Fallout. Fallout never changes.

At least, it didn't change much from 3 to 4..

  • [7/10] - This IS Star Wars. The Frostbite engine can surely creates some AMAZING looking environments and effects. The sound is great as well, imploding grenades, lasers and ofcourse John Williams coming through the speakers in all the right ways. Game plays fine as well, but ... there's not much to choose from and not much to go to. It's a shallow, simple action game. Which can be fine from time to time, but it's not something I will be playing for months and months probably.

  • [7/10] - It has a very interesting look and some great atmosphere. The gameplay is totally old school, with some minor challenging puzzles. Things can sometimes go frustrating as the fixed camera positions can change controls with every shot change, while you are runnign from barely visible ghosts. Story is totally cliche, but it also works with the style of the game. Enjoyed it quite a bit!

  • [7/10] - A great add-on that tells it own story and brings some refreshing new things to the open world of Infamous. Not all of it is an improvement to the core game, though.

  • [6/10] - Audiovisually a stunning game. The story reminded me a bit of a Stephen King story, but then without a real solid conclusion. The environment looks good, but is very static. Not much gameplay to be found, just a relaxing tour in a virtual town where something happened, but not much else.

  • [6/10] - It's more of the first one and somehow doesn't play that well due to the level design. That soundtrack, though!

  • [6/10] - A classic game, where the humor and script still holds up to this day. The gameplay, however, did not stand the test of time that well.

  • [6/10] - F1 games. I love 'em and hate 'em at the same time. This year the handling of the cars is pretty good, but the game itself is just barebones. It's filled with bugs and glitches, the netcode is a joke and we still don't have anything that represents real damage. A waste for the license and a shame.

  • [6/10] - Interesting in it how it looks, sounds and plays, but not flawless at all. There are slow downs on the console and even crashes. Even after hours of playing, the controls are still in the way. The game demands fast switching of weapons, but you never feel in control, always fumbling around. Too bad.

  • [5/10] - The best looking game I've ever seen. One of the worst game I've ever played on PS4. Death to QTE's; it's not gameplay.
