Wow, Japan got way crappier titles than NA did. And they had to wait longer for PSN to come back, too.
This is exactly what I expected of Sony Japan. They've selected games of $25 or less that are old, pretty much no longer selling, and so not worth the time of day when compared to what is being handed to customers in the West.

Sony Japan couldn't be bothered to offer to cover any fraudulent CC activity leading to this extended down time as CC companies here don't want to be lumbered paying for the potential fall out and this is the selection they "thank us with".

Well, thank you Sony. I know that the PS3 is now the last console of yours I will purchase. Whatever you come out with next, I won't waste my time or money on. Really, Sony, thank you very much for showing us how little you really care about (soon to be ex-) customers in your home market.

@Branthog: I think this isn't really a case of the government thinking "
let's wait a minute - you have a bad history here and we want to vett your system before subjecting users to it again ", but more of a "we have to do something to make it seem that we are taking an active stance in major issues such as this that affect our populace" -- If this had happened prior to March 11, the government would most likely not have demanded that PSN remain offline. They may have asked for proof that the issues were being solved, but that's as far as it would most likely have gone.

But with the earthquake/tsunami and the resulting ongoing issues with TEPCO still fresh in everyone's minds here, they are taking this opportunity for some political grandstanding in the eyes of entities overseas.

@WinterSnowblind: Yes that is true, but Government aren't stopping Sony from at least informing us of progress. Nor are they stopping Sony from providing us a blog, etc., through which they can keep us better informed. But, instead of doing that, Sony continue to do what most Japanese companies do in Japan -- keep their customers firmly in the dark, only updating with as little information as possible as little as possible.

All this time while the US/EU arms of Sony were keeping their regions upto date on a regular basis through their respective blogs, Sony Japan were doing only issuing as brief a press release as possible hidden away on their site.

Further to that, if they had actually put into place all the checks/systems, etc., they mentioned to the government, PSN wouldn't be offline right now. (For that matter, the only way to have known this was due to the government was to read the Nikkei article. Sony certainly haven't mentioned this fact on their site here). It's the way they do this that makes the situation far more infuriating than it would otherwise be.

Yet those of us in Japan are still without any indication as to when we will get PSN access. Let alone any notice as to what compensation we can expect from Sony for the downtime. *sigh*
