PS2 Collection

PlayStation 2 Collection, games are in order of purchase.

Also among them are some games I played but do not own, and some games I am hoping to get in the future.

List items

  • The first game I played on my PS2,and what a way to start it all.

This game is an experience. Once you learn how to climb and kill a colossus you will want to continue doing it for as long as you can. Sadly, as all games, it must end at some point and when it dose, you will remember it for the rest of your life. Nr. 1 game on the PS2.

  • My second game on the PS2,a game I have never heard of untill the day I received it as a presant for my B-day from my very best best friend (freezermanhero). This is a hidden gem on the console,a horror game that uses the "run and and hide" mecanism (one of my favorits). While not the scariest it is creepy and unsettling, and has personality.

    ****

  • The first JRPG I played (I know,I live a sad life),this game was called many things by series fans, but I would say that it is one of the best games I have played on the console.Gues this is the advatage of a newcomer to the series,I don't have all those other good games keeping me from enjoying this one.

  • I have not played the first, but this one really impressed me.A good story, likable characters, great platforming, very challanging and a nice open world.Jak II is a perfect platforming cocktail.

    ****

  • While it did not stick with me as much as nr. II (probably because of the dumbed down difficulty),this game still has it's high notes.I feel they went with a more epic feel, which is def. present some times, but they left some fun parts out,and some that were added did not feel just right.Anyway still a good game.

    ****

  • Probably the only driving game to give me a hard time, even finnishing a race was difficult. This game is a tad to complex for my tastes, when it comes to cars. But I can see a lot people liking what this game has to offer and so it,at least, has my respect.

  • What is there to say,the ultimate stealth gaming experience.Hidding thru the forest is lots of fun, boss battles are a dream and the story rivals that of any James Bond movie I have seen. Also very pleasing graphics, amazing sounds (really do sounds like a forest) and great gameplay plus tons of easter eggs and extra things to find.Oh and I didn't mention the characters...they kick ass :D

    *****

  • Best FPS on the Playstation 2,gameplay and graphics wise.If this game would have combined with Killzone,it would have been GOTY for sure.

    ****

  • Sadly I played it after Snake Eater so it was a bit underwhelmed, but it was still a very enjoyable game. This is where the strong story of the series was formed, and it shows,it is very complex but those with an active brain will enjoy it.Boss battles are ok but not as good as 3,and the stealth aspect is more based on hidding behing objects then fooling your enemies like in 3.Overall you cannot deny it beeing a good game, but it is significantly weaker then 3.

  • After seeing that I really enjoy JRPGs,I decided to get this game.It has a very simple plot but very well executed, characters are simple but memorable as well. Some very silly enemies(that mean business) and amazing cell-shaded graphics this is an old school RPG at heart that will impress, inspire and maybe even enrage others.

    ****

  • More funny then I expected, neet weapons and gadgets,an apetite for destruction and chaos.A game any kid could enjoy, even tho I am not a kid anymore, this game was fun and it was also very replayable.

    ****

  • I felt that the focus was less on gameplay and actually having fun,and more on creating an entire population for the MK Universe. It has some pro's and many cons sadly, but it will satisfy your violent needs.

    **

  • The Biggest game out there:long story, great story, great characters, amazing and vibrant cities, and unlimited Mayham this is THE Big Daddy of the GTA series. And I only scrached the surface.

    *****

  • What is there to say about the God of War games that have not been sayd before?

The game is just amazing it is stuffed with epic moments, amazing combat and the goodnes that is Greek Mythology

    *****

  • A bit of a letdown, the game had many great ideas and could have been an amazing stand alone title. However great series come with great expectations.Sadly this game did not live up to them, but it did offer some amazing gaming moments in the form of the Room itself.

  • War is more then just about one man with a gun,it's about a band of men that are willing to go thru hell and back together or on each others shoulders.A game that preffers real squad tactics rather then going gun ho.Probably not the best for a console but it is a great game.

  • Incredibly similar to the first one, with just some minor graphical immprovements,at times it feels more like an expansion.Anyway I got both at the price of 1 so I cannot complain. It fallows a differit soldier in pretty much the same locations (France get's boring after a while). The tactical side is still here, but with smarter oposition this time ballanced by weaker partner AI.

  • After seeing the endurance run here at giant bomb,I fell in love with the Persona series.Persona 3 may be a bit more serious then it's younger brother (persona 4),but it still manages to creat some of the most memorable characters in any videogames I played, with a great story blended with an amazing social aspect that makes you wish you could go back to school. The FES version has an expansion called The Answer which let's you play as Aigis and continues the story after the events of P3.

  • Known as Project Zero here in EU.Probably the best gaming deal I have EVER made, buying all 3 games for less then the price of 1.

This game has to be the single scariest game I have ever played,I had trouble sleeping 3 nights. After finnishing it I can say that this was an amazing experience,a scary yet beautifull game, that you will remember.

    ****

  • Known as Project Zero II here in EU.

This one has a more deep story then the first,I also love the characters (Mio,Mayu,Sae etc). This game is very beautifull, just like a butterfly,It's gracious and beautifull to look at.I find it a bit less scary then the first or 3rd,but it has it's moments, still not a game I could play at night. Some say it's the best in the series,It defiantly has a nice balance to it, but I say that in terms of scares the 1st and 3rd are much better.

    ****

  • Known as Project Zero 3 here in EU.

Starts of slow with the scares and very confusing, but as you progress the game shows it's power. The scares are some of the best and nastiest in the series, you will jump. However I still find the 1st better in terms of overall scary athmosphere, but FF III gets number 2 from me.After finishing the game I feel that the series dosen't get old,and actually raises the bar even higher with every entry.

  • This is a back to basics and back to horror Resident Evil game. No classy stuff,no fluff, save your ammo, save your saves (lol), this game is straight brutal classic horror and I liked it.

Sadly I played it kinda wrong and got stuck at a later part of the game, but I was very close to finishing it. Still I think it was a great experience, but maybe the series evolution was for the better (as far as gameplay goes).

  • While not at the caliber of Devil may cry, onimusha is still a good hack n slash but with a few shortcomings. The game is kinda short, however it is a very repayable game, it has very bad voice acting and it just doesn't stay that memorable sadly. It's an ok purchase but I'm not very proud of it. The CGI is very impressive however .

  • Just got it, really liking it a lot,the style is great and it's a very addictive and amusing game.

This game is what you play when you just wanna kick some ass and the streets are to tough for you, more so it makes kicking ass fun, addicting and awesome (kinda like how Chuck Norris feels). So don't believe reviews they are really making the game feel terrible when in truth it is one of my favorite games on the platform

  • Already this game is shaping up to be one of my absolute favorites, and it actually is. After finishing it I can safely say I have my 2nd favorite game on the PS2.

The art, the story, the gameplay just everything is amazing. I actually expected the game to end faster then it did, and even if it did, I would have still loved it.

A great product is that witch exceeds someone's expectations, and my expectation were pretty high coming to this, and guess what, it still exceeded them.

Clover is now one of my hall of fame developers and I thank the people at the (former) studio for what they have done.

  • Considering this is one of the first games on the system, I am quite impressed with ICO. While outdated now, it still holds it's own very well.

The game is unique and timeless and actually manages to create a strong bond with it's characters, given the fact that they rarely talk.

Also it is a great example for simplicity in gaming, that actually works and creates a great atmosphere.

The game's lenght is a bit on the short side and most puzzles aren't to complicated due to it's simplistic gameplay mechanic. Not as great as Shadow of the Colossus or Okami, but clearly a unique experience and a must buy for PS2 owners.

  • A combination between FF XII and Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue galaxy is not really the best of both games, but an enjoyable JRPG in the end.

The game makes it very easy for you to enjoy the experience, even though not the best, by making very good design choices like : fast fun real time combat, short to no loading screens, pausing during cutscenes, easy and effective combination mechanic.

I would have loved better music (DQ 8-ish) , and somewhat more maturity in the execution of the game's story (FF XII).

Also is it me or ar all Level 5 games incredibly memorable and nostalgic ?

  • Just found this game for a fairly cheap price, got it more due to buzz about it being an obscure game and decent JRPG. Haven't finished it yet, but so far it looks like persona 3 without the high school and socializing aspect. Story seems relatively fresh and interesting.

  • (Borrowed from a library) Amazing gameplay and some of the best in motion visuals the PS2 can handle, couple that with a Kojima's talent and you have what could be one of my all time favourit PS2 game, that is if it worked properly. Sadly the game was in bad condition when I picked it up and kept blocking at a certain scene in the game, it's safe to say that I cursed the gods that day, it was not meant to be I guess. I will still search for it however, till the end of my days if I must.

  • (Borrowed from the library) This one did not work at all, unless you count the main menu. Not much to say sadly, still on my to hunt list.

  • (Library borrowed) Again, god damn kids, this game seemed to be working until I started the campaign, then it all went to shit. I might consider it someday, but very unlikely.

  • (Borrowed) A really fun and quite addicting game, there really isn't anything like it out there (aside from the other warriors games).

Hundreds of hours can be spent in this game, tons of unlockables, but can also get really boring and repetitive at one point.

  • (Borrowed)This game started really slow and boring and honestly I was loosing hope of it being any good. Thankfully the game really picks up as it goes, for me it was the moment Mannah joined the team. This game is quite special, the story is pretty interesting and it will keep you playing, the characters have some depth and the gameplay really grows on you.

A great game, that is worth investing time in.

  • (Borrowed) Kind of boring and not really my cup of tea, graphic wise the game looks good for ps2 and the gameplay is something you don't see too often on the platform. Story and characters just feel uninteresting, especially by Final Fantasy standards.

  • (Borrowed) My time with this game is sadly done, I should call it Kingdom Hearts 2 demo since all I got to play was the Roxas beginning part. After I got Sora and got on the gummi ship the game just crashed. And I really liked the way this game was building up :( oh well, on my to get list.

  • (Borrowed) A Silent Hill game that takes psychological horror quite literally, it does make for quite an interesting premise and use of mechanics. Much like the room, this game would benefit more from being it's own thing then having the silent hill name slapped on to it. The game is quite creepy and somewhat scary, but it becomes very predictable at one point, it also doesn't help that the running away from enemies is quite annoying, and hiding does mostly nothing. Could have been better, could have been worse. The ending psychological analysis however described me quite perfectly, so I give it that. Worth a playthrough.

  • (Borrowed)I always like the idea behind the MotorStorm series, having multiple vehicle types racing on the same track, with various paths suited for the particular vehicle types. So obviously I had to try this out, even though I would have preferred playing it on a PSP. The game is chaotic fun, and worth a go.

  • (Borrowed) A Japanese horror game with an interesting mechanic, being able to see from the enemies perspective. I already like this game as it makes you dread enemy encounters and is focuses on stealth. I honestly want more of these kind of survival horror experiences. Worth a try for any horror fan.

  • (Borrowed) I like the 2.5D approach that this game has, the game looks great and plays quite nicely. The story and characters are not bad either.

  • (Played but do not own) Hardest game in the series, and that's playing on normal. I think of this game as a rite of passage for GoW fans, if you can't handle it...well you are not worthy of the others (which are much more easy).

    ****

  • (Played but do not own) Not so much horror, but one of the few games I consider really well done from start to finnish. Well paced, memorable boss battles, great atmosphere, many awesome guns, good graphics,replayable...heck it's just good.

    *****

  • (Played but do not own) A dissapointing FPS for me, coming from a PC background with lots of amazing FPS games this one felt a bit lacking. Graphics were meh, even for PS2,controls felt weird...however the sory, characters and concept kept the game from being utter sh*t.
