Nearly everything D3 did right with none of the things it did wrong; the original torchlight was the first iso-ARPG I put any serious time into, and I fell in love again with the sequel.

fun puzzles and combat with an EXCELLENT artstyle Darksiders 2 did a lot to build on the original while still keeping it's own unique play style, and left me waiting for (hopefully) the eventual 4 player co-opocalypse.
-
Stand alone expansion for my 2011 GOTY, Fall of the Samurai did everything TW:Empire failed to do; it made the AI much more competent, artillery fun and easy to use, and added some interesting dynamics to the campaign map.

While still not totally perfect, Arenanet took some interesting risks in the world of MMO design; ultimately the game is extremely fun and engrossing and will only improve with time.

An excellent strategy game in a style we don't see often enough, I hope XCOM's success will cause more developers to make intense, small-scale turn based games.
-
Dungeon delving at it's finest, and with the newly added dungeon editor it looks like it'll stay installed for a LONGGGG time.
-
Supremely hard platformer not unlike Super Meat Boy, another all-time favorite.

A landmark in storytelling, what can I say that others haven't?

The puzzles kept me and my brother up till nearly 5AM multiple nights in a row, deciphering the language and symbols over skype so we could compare notes on the web cam.

The first "diablo" game I played, D3 kept me enthralled with it's amazing combat and design; the weak world randomization and technical stuff (the always on DRM and auction house) are what drags it to the bottom of the list, but I can't ignore any game I enjoyed for well over 100 hours.
