I can remember playing Ninja Gaiden Black when I was 10-11. I couldn't even beat the 2nd boss on the Ninja Dog difficulty. That game made me want to throw the controller at the TV. I also remember playing older PS1 games like Mega Man Legends, Digimon World 2, and Final Fantasy Tactics as games I really hated as a kid due to the punishing difficulties.

Nowadays I feel like if a game is too frustrating I don't want to play it anymore like with The Witness. I don't have masochistic tendencies when it comes to video games; if a game is too difficult in a way that makes me resent it, that's when I stop altogether.

I agree with the answer you've chosen as the best answer TC, but I'd also like to talk up the world's charm as well. I played it on the GC about 5 years ago.

What I liked so much about Beyond Good and Evil was that the character relations seemed so authentic. The game starts out in an orphanage where the two characters Jade (human woman) and Pey'j (pig man) looks after young children of many different races that have had their parents pass away due to the antagonists (the Domz) attacks on the planet. So it starts immediately grabbed me due to this noble sort of motivations from the main characters. After that, it becomes more about the conspiracy around who the Domz really are.

I'd agree with the claims that the game-play being monotonous in terms of puzzle solving and stealth. (See this ol' one by none other than Jeff Gerstmann, http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/beyond-good-and-evil-review/1900-6085013/).

In closing, it was a varied game with sub-par, forgettable game-play (that controlled well) that also had a deeply interesting narrative with characters that acted in a way that was more multi-dimensional than typical video game protagonists.

I've always liked Emile Hirsch but I understand that his personal life most likely has a lot to do with why people don't seem to like him very much, not just crap movies like Speed Racer.

Sublime is one of the best bands of the 90's as far as I'm concerned because Bradley Nowell was a great songwriter. I have no hate for that Sublime. But I'm sure a good majority of people look at them derogatorily since they were a contemporary of all the other pop/ska/punk bands of the time people seem to trash-talk nowadays like No Doubt, Rancid, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake, Blink-182, etc. Bands that get really popular, seem to be slagged off due to their popularity or prominence. We see it in video games series like COD, Battlefield, and others all the time.

I also feel like they've also become a sort of band the drug culture idolizes like The Grateful Dead or Frank Zappa so a lot of people just write them off pretty quickly just based on that.

I hate Sublime with Rome as it is at most a crappy cover band, living off the fond memories people have of Bradley Nowell's Sublime. To me it's like if Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl decided to continue Nirvana after Kurt died. Sublime ended when Bradley passed away, for me at least.

I'm a student, but I guess I'm unemployed.

I couldn't help but read that option and say it out loud like The Dude says it when talking to the cops after his car gets stolen.

  • Dragon Age Inquisition
  • Zelda: Wind Waker (Triforce shards)
  • Every Assassin's Creed game ever
  • Final Fantasy Tactics on PS1.

There are many other examples, the big one being RPG's and the level grinding needed to beat them. Sometimes it drives me crazy.

So I know that there are repercussions for romancing both Triss and Yennifer, but do the other more casual romance encounters have any weight on how your desired partner's romance unfolds?
