ZOMGOTY2013!!!11!1!!!1!1

The only six games with a release date in 2013 that I played this year. K THEN LES' GO!

List items

  • I'm a firm believer in story trumping gameplay, and The Last of Us' story trumps its gameplay more than Donald Trump trumps non-Trump chumps. Whenever something goes "thump" in this game, all you can do is jump.

(I had other sentences here using "slump" and "pump," but I'll stop the buck here -- don't want to keep you sitting on your rump. Ok, I'm done, for real.

    Bump.)

The narrative is ridonculously well-crafted and tied together, and the ending is guaranteed to leave your jaw on the floor and your eyes bursting from the face on your skull. It is something you will think about long after having completed the game. I can't speak to the game's multiplayer, because I don't really care, but the narrative is not one to be missed by anyone remotely interested in experiencing an enthralling story.

  • I mean, it's fucking Antichamber. What do you want from me? The gameplay definitely trumps the story here.

  • YOU CAN BE THE PRESIDENT IN THIS ONE AND YOU GET SUPER POWERS.

  • Never have I enjoyed being a carnivore so much in my life. I'm anxiously awaiting the app that allows for digital fish kills to be redeemed as real-world fish coins. The edible kind.

  • I think I got this for free during some sale and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. This game is too cool for school -- so cool, in fact, that it never even went to school, passed all the classes anyways, became superintendent of the district, fired all the principals, and turned every class into recess.

  • NCAA Football 14 was the most tolerable iteration of this series in years. That being said, can somebody PLEASE FIX THE FUCKING PHYSICS ENGINE. If not, I want the players to at least realistically react to the ragdoll positions they find themselves after the play. The next time an opposing player sits on my running back's face and then proceeds to put an entire leg through his groinal region, I want my player to FEEL the pain, damnit!
