Sorry to bring this post back from the dead, but I am having issues with my PS4 controller. The only headset I can get to work fully with mic input and audio output is the new Apple iPhone 6 ear pods. I've tried with a Steel-series headset with mic input and set of Velodyne headset with mic input. Both of those work on my iPhone for calls, but for some reason don't work with the DS4. I have a feeling there is subtle misplacement of the sensors inside the DS4 that will throw it off.

I used the companion app just out of curiosity, and it's actually pretty well made from a technical standpoint, but I just don't think it adds any game play value whatsoever. What do they stand to gain financially from forcing encouraging people to use theses apps? More micro transactions?
