Personally, I don't think P3's take on the whole Persona/Shadow business was even with the other games.  To me, it's like they just wanted to make an exciting game.  Persona 3 focuses on a memento mori motif with an occult theme (the main shadows are based off of the Major Arcana of a tarot deck, but there is no connection between tarot and Jungian psychology.)  In other words, I believe ...
