So I was considering picking this up and downloaded the demo on PSN, but I just could not get a handle on the aiming controls--particularly how they're tied to the camera controls. I'd prefer the aiming to be normal and the camera inverted, but that option wasn't available, and either I was unable to aim properly or unable to control the camera properly. I just wanted to make sure that you can't do that in the full game either before I decide not to get the game because of that.

I prefer to just pretend the last 5 minutes of this game never happened. Substitute in whatever you feel is most appropriate.

But yeah, people are fucked, generally speaking. Too many people in the Sol system, not enough resources. Colonies are stranded with no supplies, mass war and starvation follows. Nice job breaking it, Hero.

@Humanity:

I kind of thought they fixed the problems with protected enemies being immune to most biotics by having a lot more enemies with no shields or armor in this game, having health be a more significant portion of an enemy's total life, and having a lot of the abilities have some kind of debuff effect in addition to the crowd control.

Maybe try a different class than Soldier? (assuming you're playing one, which it sort of sounds like) The shooting isn't really fantastic, but the powers the other classes get can be a LOT of fun. I played as an Engineer, and drones and turrets can murder enemies for me, or I can cryoblast enemies and then make them explode with Incinerate.

@Brodehouse: It was space-munchausens's, he faked all the symptoms...in space. That prayer at the end really was great, I'm doing a renegade play through, and when that came up, I just didn't have the heart to do renegade there.

With Mordin's death, I agree that him giving his life to undo what he sees as his biggest mistake works really well. I just think how he dies at the end is poorly written, like it was just tacked on to give him a death scene. I think, for me at least, it's a question of how they lead up to it. Thane's death works so well because your interaction with him beforehand is him having come to terms with the fact that he's going to die soon. I don't think it would have been nearly as good if you'd missed those conversations. Another one is Samara's death and for the same reason. She just up and offs herself at the end of the mission, and while her reason for doing it was actually really cool, there's no time to emotionally invest in the decision. If you'd met her before you go on the mission, find out the Asari in the temple are her daughters, and find out that she's tormented by the thought that she'll have to kill all of them, her suicide could have had a lot more impact.

Maybe I'm just being picky though.

Well, anyone who's not a complete monster wouldn't have gotten this, but Mordin's Renegade Deathis rather... upsetting. There's also a later follow-up.

I just finished and I really liked the ending. Or maybe "admire" would be a better choice of words. Fucking ballsy is what it is.

Also, after the silly giant Terminator from the last game, I love that the series doesn't end with a boss battle. Unless you count those three Husks and a Marauder...

That Marauder killed me 3 times. :( He also killed the tension of the scene. Seriously though, The ending is a travesty of the highest magnitude, and killed the meaning of the entire series in the span of 5 minutes.

Just finished 15 minutes ago, took the Destroy Synthetics ending. All 3 choices were deeply unsatisfying, and a really terrible way to end this series. Do you want to kill the Reapes and die, control the Reapers and die, or do something nonsensical and die? Oh, also galactic civilization is fucked regardless of what you pick, so have fun with that. I really liked this game up until literally that last bit. I just can't believe that that's how they wanted this 3 game epic to end.

I was actually looking forward to going through with some other characters and trying different stuff. Now... I don't think I'll even bother. They sucked all the meaning out of the entire game in 5 minutes.

Grenades are fine the turrets are whats bullshit

I love the turrets they put down. I can just hit them with sabotage and they murder every Cerberus asshole nearby without me having to bother. I hate getting flanked by shield guys I didn't even see, especially since the only reliable way to defeat them is with Biotics, and the only party member with Biotics is Liara, who I really don't want to have to take to every mission with Cerberus enemies.

Still, Grissom Academy was the mission that gave me the most trouble in the entire game so far, and I'm getting pretty near the end. That room in particular took me a long time.

@Ulain:

I took rockets for the drone. They seem really effective, but I haven't played around with the other version, so I can't be sure how they compare. I'll say that it doesn't tend to move in on enemies if it has line of sight on any. It'll just stand still and fire rockets at them. Other than that, I mostly took the straight damage and shield upgrades, so it probably does more damage by staying back than by getting it right next to enemies. The turret also does have a ring around it, but it's a lot smaller than the one for the drone, and can sometimes not appear if it's really far away.

Engineer is a fantastic and fun class. The only power affected by armor/shields/barriers is Cryoblast, and that still debuffs them with reduced movement speed and armor vulnerability. Sometimes you don't even have to fire your gun while your drone and turret slaughter everything for you, and Cryoblast and Incinerate can be specced so that they work in tandem, with Incinerate doing over twice as much damage on frozen targets, and causing a freezing explosion due to the power combo system. Any enemies that get frozen by this can then also be incinerated, causing further explosions.
