I'm also getting this problem.  It'll start uploading, then stop around the %30-40 mark.

No dedicated servers.
No mods.
No user-made maps.
No custom loadouts.
2 weapon limit.
No jumping (rumor)
Can't carry both grenades and mines (rumor, though gameplay video might confirm it)
What happened to you, Tribes?

Several days ago I decided to reinstall Freelancer, which I’d bought from Amazon sometime last year. I never got around to finishing it because I got to a point where it’d take quite a while for my character to advance, and I really didn’t feel like taking on several missions. That’s how it works in Freelancer; you do some story-based missions with Juni, then you both land on some station while she leaves and recommends that you get some work in the mean time. It’s all based on your worth. Say I’m worth $50,000 when she leaves. I can view my player status and see in order to progress to the next level, I need to be at $75,000. To accomplish this I can talk with a few tradesmen or local authorities about jobs, which in all honesty they should be doing, that are worth anywhere from $5000-$15,000. It all depends on how far into the game you are. Obviously when you first start out the jobs are rather cheap and easy, but eventually get more intense and valuable. When you meet your goal, Juni comes back and the story progresses.

Anyways, I got to a point where I needed like $30,000+ dollars, and I really didn’t feel like doing that many missions. I stopped playing for a bit, meaning to go back to it at some point, but never really did. I ended up forgetting about it and stupidly uninstalled the game when cleaning out my old computer. Jump to a few days ago when I decided to give the game another go. I got to the point where I left off before and got to my goal pretty quick. I only had to take on 3-4 jobs, which made me quite happy. I’ve advanced throughout the story quite considerably, and enjoy the gameplay, but it’s come to the point where I just want it to end already. I’ve only got a basic grasp on the story, mainly because I haven’t been paying too much attention to cutscenes or dialog. Basically, an alien race has taken control of several higher-up officials and is spreading itself throughout the human race. When I finally did start listening, I noticed a startling resemblance to a Star Trek: TNG episode called Conspiracy. Not important, but still somewhat funny.

I’m also in possession of an artifact that belongs to the same alien species. A bunch of other shit happened and I’m basically trying to figure out what’s happening, while saving humanity at the same time. Fun? Yes, but tiresome at the same time. I’ve grown accustomed to the way enemies attack and appear. For instance, I know that if I’m given a waypoint to enemy ships, they’ll appear when I’m precisely 2.4 Km’s away from said waypoint. I also know that if I’m to destroy an object, say, a generator, the enemy will increase their attacks when the generator is seconds away from destruction. Enemies also seem to only focus on me, regardless if I’m with a fleet of other ships or not. I’m also well aware that if my main goal is to simply outrun the enemy and I try to activate cruise engine, which greatly increases my speed, they conveniently fire missiles that disable my engines.

Then i came a point that I’m not too proud of. I had just escaped a rather hectic battle with just one bar of ‘health’ remaining. I’d attempted this battle several times before, and finally managed to escape the buggers and jump through a wormhole. Once on the other side I was greeted with yet another battle. I had no nanobots to repair my ship or shields. I was fucked in every way possible. There was no way in hell I was going to attempt the previous battle in the hopes of escaping with more health. Nor was I going to stop playing. I’m finishing this damn game one way or another, so I did the only thing I could think of. I cheated. Just this once. It worked, and I turned the cheats off afterwards.

I have a feeling that, hopefully, I’m near the end. I’m starting the game up right now, and hopefully I’ll conquer this beast once and for all.

Set it to start in windowed mode.  Then when a game starts press Alt+Enter.

Sadly, PlayTribes is pretty much dead.  There hasn't been any official word on the game since December 2009.  InstantAction is dead and sold the franchise over to Hi-Rez Studios, who haven't mentioned anything about PlayTribes either.

On November 11, 2010, InstantAction was shut down along with all the games it hosted, including Legions.  Before this, a dedicated group of community members had been working on a stand-alone client, and are still planning to release it sometime soon.  The game, now named Legions: Overdrive, can be found at LegionsOverdrive.com.

I'd like the darker logo to be the official box-art for this page.
What level do you have to be to change it yourself?  I have over 1000 wikipoitns so I thought I'd be able to but can't find the option.
