Honestly, do a few things in chinatown then close the game and watch the ending on youtube or noclip through the rest of that shit. I really enjoyed the first 14 hours or so, but the last 3 hours really left a bad taste in my mouth.

However if decisions start mattering towards the end, doesn't that mean there are multiple endings?
... Not sure I actually want to know though - I might feel like we're getting into spoiler territory.
Not a fan of "just" looking the ending up either way... but it does sound like that last part of the game sucks.

Haven't gotten back into the game since I started this topic.

@Origina1Penguin:
It's the mission just after that ship mission, which is why I feel like I *just* had my fill of stealth. It's the one where I apparently have to break into a museum. Still haven't begun the mission yet, but it sounds like I'm forced towards going in through the roof.

... You ask about clan and I'm playing as  toreador. It really stands out as one of the more beginner-friendly clans on paper.

You've probably played the game extensively unlike me, but still I don't believe there is any way of NOT being a dick to some of those people dying from the "plague" in that mission.

For whatever reason I had to say something like "would you just die already?" to a sick street-bum. The situation was similar to the dying girl in the apartments.
I don't believe any amount social stats would change that - and within the game it wouldn't actually matter, since any info available in that dialogue had already revealed... but it still felt out of place for MY character.

I followed most people's advice and am playing with the unofficial community patch. I kept it as "pure" as possible though and didn't go for the plus pack though.

Well shooting is shit for characters that aren't built around shooting, but otherwise it's fine. The automatic shotgun is a beast too. :P

I'm wondering which characters are built around that though?
As mentioned I picked  toreador and figured since they weren't focused on strength, that I probably should go with ranged for them - however changed my mind quickly.
I'll freely admit that I probably didn't give firearms a fair shake though.

@Tru3_Blu3:
I'm wondering a bit about how long this game is.
As mentioned I'm mostly through the side-missions in the 2nd hub, and it looks like there is only 4 hubs all in all.
I suppose you'll revisit previous hubs, but generally I find most of the missions pretty quick - so I'm not to sure how prolonging these revisits are.

@Ghostiet
To me it sounded like HIM suggesting how I should do the mission - and then me actually denying to do it that game (which is stupid since that was probably the way I would prefer).

I play as toreador and have thus thrown quite a few points in achieving seduction and persuasion. I've later come to realize that it may be stupid to "double up" in those ability, since it seems like you probably should focus one one or the other (by often being presented with both an seduction dialog-choice AND an persuasion one).

You mention "subterfuge" specifically, and that is something that is a bit unclear for me about the game-mechanics. There is 2 stats governing something like persuasion, with subterfuge being the one - can't remember which the other is. I was in the understanding that it didn't matter which of the 2 you poured points into, as both of them adds a single point in persuasion.

I actually have a fair amount of points put into brawl. Initially I thought I should focus on "ranged" because it probably fit the clan, but quickly found out that I didn't like the shooting in this game at all - so went with unarmed instead. Haven't really been punished for that choice yet - but it's generally very hectic and button-mashy for me in combat :-)

I've been playing this game for a few days, and after going through most of the side-missons in the second hub (Downtown), it's becoming increasingly clear that the game seem to be funneling you down a path.

There are just more than a few cases where you supposedly given a choice to make - but really only have one choice. It somewhat annoys me..
...Well at least it annoyed me at the last mission I initiated just before going to bed last night (though having not actually begun the mission yet).

Basically the head vampire dude were just explaining how I could probably manipulate humans to get through the mission and actually offered me the keys to the front door...
Awesome! I thought since that's pretty much how I've specced my character.
...But then I'm left with 4 dialog options which ALL - for reasons unknown to me - lead to me turning down the key and with me suggesting sneaking through the roof.
What? why would my character do that?

Adding to the frustration... I've just gone through a stealth mission, and was really hoping for a change of pace.

At other points in the game I've had forced dialog that didn't seem to fit my character. At the top of my head I can think of a couple of times where my only conversation-ending dialog-option have been something insulting.

The game is of cause old, so it's probably much to expect the city to feel bigger than it does. It's "open world" in the sense of what "open world" meant around 2000. Basically like Omikron: The Nomad Soul or something like Deux Ex... with kind of empty streets and finding a door that actually opens, mean that there is something to do in there.

I'll stick with the game, and I've more than gotten my 5€ worth... But I did feel like venting about some of those thing.
The story is pretty engaging, or at least engaging enough to have me see it through.

Aw man...
Those matches were intense!

I found myself holding my breath some of them :-) Can't believe how close most of them were.

I must admit after playing this yesterday for quite a few hours, It certainly does show it's age. I does look rough. Also with that Hi-res patch.

I still find the Oblivion-engine to be more than tolerable to look at, which in itself also i quite old - but I guess you forget that that engine pushed the envelope back in 2006... and this game is 2 years older than that.
...But I really had no problems making the game work with the community patch, so I probably shouldn't jinx it by trying out additional patches to improve the graphics though.

I will say there certainly is something captivating about this game.
I wasn't even supposed to begin playing a game really, since I'm currently playing through Fallout New Vegas. I just booted it up to get it working, but apparently couldn't stop. Ended up playing 7 hours.

The pace of the game FEELS faster than a game like Oblivion/Fallout. After being somewhat overwhelmed by character-creation screen, I just eventually dived in.
The missions seem quick - and unlike how I usually play, I tend to stick with my... stupid stupid... choices. Instead of reloading and doing it "right". It will probably bite me in the ass at some point.

I think I'll buy this - But I'll probably not play it right away since I'm currently playing through Fallout New Vegas.

You certainly do go out of your way picking some obscure SID's :-)

You managed to to find a song that was totally unknown to me. I don't really "feel" the first 2 min. of the song, but i differently picks up after that.

While I have never played Stormlord, the game itself is not totally unknown to me. I've come across people mentioning it on forums and through remix-efforts.
I think it's sub-song 2 of the SID-file I've usually been presented too - That's the one people some people have been remixing I believe...

Should probably give the game a go actually...
It looks like a game I would probably had played if I have had it back in the day...
If the music in a game was captivating, that was usually enough for me to play a game for long a long time - and the graphics certainly look good.

Though I'm not sure if I think the music accompanies the medievalish-theme of the game that well. That may have been a deal-breaker for me back in the day.
I donno... It's hard to speculate what a former self would have thought actually, but I think immersion was a huge part of why I stuck with some games over others.

Often I wouldn't even understand gameplay, and still stick with a game just because of the over-all "feel" of the game. "Enigma Force" and "Death or Glory" come to mind, but I know they're not the only ones.

While writing the post I've been listening to the different songs in the SID, and I think I actually quite like Jeroen Tel's song for the game. I figure it's the title-song or loader since I don't figure samples of someone saying "Stormlord" don't go all that well in-game

Dare I say that un-masked sub zero looks kind of dumb? I always expected him to be badly scarred under his mask, here he looks like he just got a fresh shave...

It does, especially since they're doing it wrong anyways as someone mentioned above lol

I tried googling a video, and there is only a blurry only blurry one available. I can't tell if he has a scar on the right side of his face at all.

Oh yeah! That one!
That one is awesome! (I listened to it now).

It has been a bit disappointing in these later years to find out that most of my favorite sid-melodies in fact were rip-offs of some lesser known hit at the time...
Hubbard is probably my favorite C64-musician - which made it a bit disappointing to me to find out, that he probably did this practice more than anyone :-(

At least he can be considered a good remixer, which his version of the Commando-theme is a testament to. That one blows the arcade version of the theme out of the water.

I too of cause feel that Zoids is way better than Ancestors.

A bit to the point of what @Absolute_Zero said:
I actually feel that though there are many remixes of Zoids on C64 Remix, and plenty of them get a lot of praise - none of them really appeal to me.
The original sid still feel way more EPIC (have no problem with the word) than any remix I've heard.
