Brand new footage of UFC 09 from Dana White's video blog, featuring a trip to THQ studios.

Dana also has some comments on Saturday night's Heavyweight Championship bout between Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar.

Vid has some NSFW language, just so you know.

I never hated Kimbo, I'm glad he's made some money for himself and his family, but its time he moved on. He'll never be a contender in MMA, but hes got a good head on his shoulders, perhaps a pro westling company like TNA or WWE would pick him up.

This whole Kimbo charade wasn't his doing, it was Shaw and Bas Rutten that set this crap up. EXC is a terrible promotion, I hope Affliction severs ties with them ASAP, and EXC goes away forever."
i agree with you man. he isn't skilled in this sport, he's just very strong and has very hard punches. all he had to do was connect with this guy. but this guy is fast and more skilled than anyone else he has fought before.
"
Kimbo is just not very good, and thats the facts of the matter. He's a brawler, not a MMA fighter. Seth is a legit MMA fighter, and he's also got a couple K1 fights under his belt. He made it to the semi's in season 2 of The Ultimate Fighter were he lost to Brad Imes.

He got a few fights in the UFC anyway, and went a respectable 2-2, one of his losses was a decision to Matt Hammel, and that shows he's pretty tough. Matt is a beast at 205, one of the best wrestlers at that weight.

Here is a vid of Seth fighting in K1 agaist Bob "The Beast" Sapp.  Sapp fought K1 and he did MMA in pride. He's kinna like KImbo, but much, much bigger. All power, no skill. If this was an MMA fight, Seth would have finished him after the knockdown. Seth ended up tearing his biscept on a wiffed punch and the fight was stopped.

Notice he floors Sapp with the same short right from the inside he dropped Kimbo with.

"Actually no, not completely wrong. You and a certain very small minority may wish things stayed the same throughout, but they've already evolved from then, game devs know this, reviewers know this. If this wasn't true almost every RPG made recently would still have turn based combat and random encounters. Its like saying FPS games should of never evolved to a crosshair and full X and Y axis movement. I'm done posting in this thread, its pointless- the review isn't credible at all, and your statement shows you would actually take this review seriously."
You call adapting the Elder's Scrolls ruleset evolution? Cus its been around longer than turn based combat, hero.
You need to learn the difference between stepping forward and stepping to the side. Building on the franchise's foundation to make it fresh is moving forward. Doing something completely unlike the previous games is a sidestep. Replacing one archaic battle system related to the franchise with another archaic battle system takes a step back, and to the side."
Fallout 3 does not use an Elder Scrolls ruleset.

It uses the SPECIAL system, just like Fallout and Fallout 2.  It can also be played real-time, or turnbased.

Just because it looks similar to Oblivion, doesn't mean it plays anything like Oblivion. I was very skeptical at first when I heard about Fallout 3, but from everything I've seen it looks like Bethesda has gone out of their way to make the game as true to the source material as possible.

Play it before you bash it for not being Fallout 2. You may actually like it.

I understand were your coming from, but I see what your saying as immersion, not storytelling.  Your talking about a player become attached to a character, or gameworld, and using plot devices and props in-game to further plots or comunicate plot points and ideas. Games like Morrowwind do this well.

I wasn't talking about any of that. I was just talking about the orginal story, and its telling. I had said I wasn't even much intrested in the Kain games themselves as much as just following the storyline. I disagree that delivery is everything when it comes to memorable experiances.

You used Narnia as an example with the conversion from novel to film, and its a good point, so I'll offer this. If the Legacy of kain series was re-written as a novel, or novel series, it would be a fantasic read,  however, Half-Life would not. I'm speaking to the story itself, not the game as a whole.

"Planescape Torment, many PSX JRPGs, Silent Hill 1 and 2, Team ICO games and the Half Life series, for me, represent storytelling at it's best in video games. There don't even have to be spectacularly complicated stories involved; it's all about telling it and immersing the player. The greatest stories can be ruined by cheap, clumsy storytelling and bad writing."
Planescape : Torment, the Baldur's Gate series,  Fallout 1 and 2, and a few of the JRPG's like Crono Trigger have very good storys, and are very well told. Torment and Fallout 1&2 really stand out in the originality department. I do think however, the huge, extremly well written and engrossing storyline of the Legacy of Kain games is in a league of its own when it comes to storytelling in video games.

The Kain games told an incredibly dark and original story, with top notch writing at every turn, and a plot that was very deep, adult, and thought provoking about the nature of the humanity, and what means to have free will.

Team ICO games are art, no doubt, but more in a visual, subtle way then in straight forward storytelling like a novel or novel series. I disagree with you on Half-Life. I never thought the story of the Half-Life universe was particually compelling or original. The games are great on there own, and Half-Life was well written at times, but not something I'd put on the same list as other games talked about.

Totally agree on great storys being ruined by clumsy storytelling and bad writing. I can think of several games that fall into that catagory, but the worst offender by far is the Metal Gear series. Some places in Metal Gear are so badly written you just want to cringe, and somethings the games through out is just so out of place with the setting and mood it just ruins entire sence of immersion.

This game was the last in this series.  It seems like the story could continue but I haven't heard anything about more Kain games being made.

This game series set the bar for orginal storytelling in gaming. Alot of games have great storylines, but Legacy of Kain was on a whole different level. I remember waiting for the next game in the series to come out, the same way I waited for the next George R.R. Martin novel in his Song of Fire and Ice saga. I didnt really care about the new gameplay, or graphics, I just wanted to find out what happened next in the saga of the vampire Kain, and his endless struggle against the very forces of fate.

I guess I'm just having fond memories days past tonight, but this series really stood out to me as a great work of art. I doubt we will ever see anything like it again, in the days of super blockbuster games, and casual gaming cash-ins.
