Yes, because everyone will magically agree to work for 5% of their former wages and people will be handing out free oil and metal like candy.
if that situation actually took place (everyone buying second hand) they wouldn't have much of a choice. read before you double post me.
Which is why that could and should never happen, which was my original point. Jesus, I can't get over how flawed your logic is. I'm done with this shit.
you understand the concept of a hypothetical situation, right?
Evidently, since my original post was describing one. Herpderp, troll harder.

I like buying full price games and potentially selling them (not trading in) when i'm done with them, I feel as if the less you payed for a game the less you may care.
Heres an example everybody.

Oh hey! gamestop is having a b2g1 sale!
*Buys 8 games averaging for around five dollars a pop*
Never finished any of them because they are old games, long, and I have newer games to play.

Basically I have a huge collection filled with games I got for cheap but never played, sometimes feel like I have a bad habit buying L.A Noire and metro (Which I am playing and enjoying both, plan to finish soon)  then stalking cheapassgamer for more cheap game deals.

Got a damn huge backlog, don't listen to this guy.
If you have the money and want the games, support the developers and enjoy new games, however going the way of playing eight games for the same price if money is a real tight object for you can also do you very well, just having so many games to play will distract you and cause disinterest in all of them.

Haha, wow. I created a monster.

For the record: I also pay full price, so I guess that makes me an idiot. But when I was calling 'you' an idiot I was calling out anyone that complains about the price of new releases, yet continues to drop the full price on said games, as if they have to.

No, crazy you for thinking that you are being ripped off.Sure, I felt ripped of when I paid £40 for Brink because it was the biggest piece of crap I have ever played, however the amount of time and effort that goes into many games leaves me feeling that my spending was justly.
i appreciate work that has gone into anything, but it's not a part of the actual product. a turd is still a turd no matter how much effort went into making it, and i don't want to have to pay double what i should have to when other forms of media can provide just as much entertainment for far less of a cost.

if you willingly pay £40 for something that should and could be much less, then you too have a warped sense of value.?
If something gives me hours of entertainment for the price of a single person at a decent meal out, then what is the problem?£40 is not a lot of money for the amount of entertainment you receive from a good game.
books and movies give me hours of entertainment but i rarely spend more than £10 on those.
Books don't cost 50 million to produce and movies last for 1-2 hours, which makes movies way more expensive than games, relatively speaking.

But yeah, I don't really think you can brag about saving money by buying a game ~4 years after it came out.

You don't need eBay to do that. Plus, not buying games at full price will hurt us all in the long run.

Due to the length of time you spend with each item, and if you are saying that games should be the price of books then there is no helping you.

I'm fine with paying full price. That way I know what I'm getting. I've bought a few things off Ebay like a replacement bolt for my antique .22, but only because you can't buy them at stores.

I do the same thing, but six months to a year old and Steam or Amazon. That doesn't make anyone else an idiot, I just don't think many games are worth more than $20. The last game I bought within 3 months of its release was Mortal Kombat ($30 at Toys R Us less than two weeks after it released lol), and before that it was Fable II.

Also, with the right friends, you can spend over 100 hours playing a single game. You can't do that with a book or movie.

If nobody paid full prices for games then the people who spent years and years on the game would not get any money. And if everybody bought games off eBay then the people who made the game wouldn't get enough money so they won't be able to make a sequel. Feel good about yourself now?

OR you could buy games at Kmart/Amazon on release day and get gift cards. I bought LA Noire at Kmart on Tuesday for $59.99, and I got a $20 gift card AND a $19.99 game for free. Am I an idiot for that?

I just keep up on deals, for example just saved £20 off the rrp for L.A. Noire as I found it on Best Buy for £29.99. Keep your eye open and there are always deals to be had. I really only venture to ebay for retro stuff.

Project Gotham Racing 4 is a brilliant title. It's a shame that Bizarre had to be shut down. I only bought PGR4 recently, for £5 at a local retailer. While I didn't get it as cheap as you managed to find your copy, it's worth every penny I paid and more. Sure, it's better to pay full price to aid the developers but at the same time I can't afford to continually do that. Used games don't bother me - if there are enough copies bought new and then sold used the company is still making a decent bit of profit and that's what matters. I'm looking forward to buying stuff from eBay in the future, because there are some brilliant deals there.

@EVO:

No one is an idiot for paying full price for a game.  You're right, one can buy games a lot cheaper at ebay or amazon and if you're short on case this is a good option.  I'm a college student and have used amazon quite a bit as I don't have a regular income.  But if I did have a regular income I would chose to pay full-price or near full-price for a game rather than buy it used as that supports the developers.  It's actually smarter to buy games new because that increases the likelihood that games like the one bought will be made again.  If new games aren't bought publishers won't put the money behind the projects created by the developers of those games as they see it as a waste of money.
