Alot of people say the ending was bad in ME3 but what i want to know is how did they think the game was going to end?

....not knowing who you are talking about I'd suspect their response would be "Better than what we got."

...wouldn't a Claptrap in a shower be a dangerous shock hazard? But a solid PC version makes me happy!

I wondered if they were holding back a character where I snarked that it was going to be a Super Claptrap....but the Mechromancer works just as well. :)

People make fun of the idea of the "Garrus and Shepard Drinking on a Beach Ending" but that is no less ridiculous than the endings we got if one thinks about it.

I was surprised that they haven't even tried to make a Souls game for PC before. It seems like a style of game that would thrive there.

Not really. I mean there is a reason why no one makes that style of game any more on PC.

If they want to do a "hundreds of years in the future" then why stick with Mass Effect? They might as well start over from scratch because none of the characters or races would be the same or matter except for "The Shepard". If they wanted an ending to spin a stand alone or MMO game off, Bioware specifically crafted a particularly bad ending to try it from.

What happened with Mass Effect 3 seems to be an example of "punch thy self" because they explained and elaborated too much on details not germane to the climactic moment. Or to put it in even simpler terms: Less Is More.

I get the feeing many people would be very satisfied with an ending that featured just this:

- Shepard and Anderson having their final words and collapsing

- Citadel explodes

- Reapers destroyed

No Joker flying away. No Star Child yammering. No wondering how grabbing something or jumping into something will save anyone. This wouldn't be a perfect ending either but it is a lot more tolerable than what Bioware tried. For whatever reason Bioware felt they needed to elaborate which seemed to damage things more than answer things.

But then where does that leave the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer stuff. Although there is a ton of background setup, there is no story to it.

Basically not all games need storylines to enjoy nor does a storyline automatically improve a game.

Although the point is a good idea, I don't think overloaded companies with overbearing producers can handle creating 1 solid story with 1 solid ending let alone a "director's cut".

Jaffe's point is that if your group creates a game that is so intertwined with the story then you need to be very careful. Games change their design and direction all of the time but all too often no one checks if the story still makes sense after all of the changes.

No, not at all. They have fleshed out an extraordinary universe that has tons of potential for more stories to be told within it. Just because one story didn't end like you wanted it to doesn't mean they should scrap the whole thing. That is a perfect "baby with the bathwater" suggestion.

So no, there will and should be more Mass Effect games, books, comics and films and I think that's great.

They burned the potential to in the ending. What is left in the galaxy post-Shepardapocalypse?

- Burned out destroyed Earth with a hole the size of The Citadel on one side. In orbit around it is what is left of a heavily armed combat fleet with no where to go. Option: Depending on your choice the Reapers may or may not be hanging around with no where to go as well. The only reason why that would be interesting is watching how they go insane and cannibalize themselves as they starve to death because they can't leave and Earth can't support them especially after being ravaged by The Reapers and hit with The Citadel which made the comet that wiped out the dinosaurs look small.

- Depending on what you chose, with the Destroy option the reapers are at least dead so people can return to their home systems. Oh wait, survivors and refugees used to the relays flee so a lot of species can't return to their home worlds because the relays are gone. If you chose the Control or Synthesis then they are still refuges far from home and The Reapers are just hanging around their home systems.

So exactly what exciting developments would a new game, book, comic, and film be about? How some refugees on the fringe of the galaxy where basically thrown back to the interstellar stone age? That actually could be entertaining but not in the way I think you meant.
