So I have been trying to get into game writing recently, and with that I decided to do something insane. Having never had an interest in MOBA's I decided to try them out to see how user friendly they are. In that vein, I have decided to start league of legend and follow it's core tutorial stuff for a 30-day period, I am already summoner level 5 (whatever that means), and wanted to see if anyone in the GB community would be willing to throw down with me. After my 30 days, I am thinking of switching to DOtA 2 for 30 days, then writing a post about the differences, community, and over all learning curve of such games. I know it's ridiculous, but for what it's worth, I want to actually contribute something to the gaming community at large, no matter how small. Anyone else in?
Hey Boys an Girls, I funded a thing, think it is cool and want to share with the rest of the class. Check out the page for East Texas University campaign and plot point setting for Savage Worlds. The big difference is that the more people back it, not just the money but actual backers, it causes stretch goals to unlock. So lately I have been playing alot of D&D and reading a lot of 4e Material in preparation for setting up a campaign for friends and I never realized how much I needed this in my life especially since the inclusion of earning my Game design degree. For years I never touched D&D for reasons that vary, if you want the full detail just ask but not enough time for this blog. Anyway and when I am almost halfway through my schooling I pick up the game. Where the heck did I have my head for the past 15 years to not ever have played this game and let it help me develop my skill for game design more? I mean from telling a compelling story to setting up mechanics that a player can follow and easily understand, there is a trove of stuff to learn from here. If you ever need to learn how to develop a story then you need to just go ahead and pick up a manual, yeah they are pricey, but man they are worth it, CHeers!
So I am sitting here thinking of what my life is going to entail during the next couple of months. I am going to graduate from college. I will have a degree. And due to my slacking and stupidity, I need to get together a portfolio and actually get some programming information down. Now I am also interested in developing iPhone stuff and I have a Macbook Pro that will help, but I am super nervous about it. I know that I will probably not get responses from this post but if anyone has a way for focusing iPhone app development or learning the SDK better that would be awesome. I'm looking at you DAVE!! Anyway um if you all have information just message me on here and we will see about what the future may hold.
