Count one more in!

I only managed to finish the game last September, and when I tried to play online, I did find ONE full match... But all the players were already maxed out. They were very helpful and did their best to make me learn the ropes, but the level and skill difference was too great to reconcile. I just died and died no matter what I did XD

Don't know if some of you did play this online already, but in any case, I suppose a regular game night would be the thing to get me up to speed. So please count on me. I don't speak English nearly as well as I write, but it still should be enough. Add me (FabioSooner) on PSN if you'd like, just let me know this is about Anarchy Reigns when sending the request. Looking forward to it, I like everything Platinum does and this game is indeed a hidden gem.

(I do think Anarchy Reigns applies to this article about skill-based games and the press:

@MSUSteve
Also, it's Portuguese, not 'Portugese'.

@edgefusion

You nailed it.

I wish journalists stopped picking the Gearbox guy just because he tried to defend the indefensible Duke Nukem Forever. That Ars Tecnica article is very, very shallow and low - the Eurogamer article it mentions may have been mostly accurate, but Ars Tecnica ignored that much of the info presented had already been said by the developer ***months ago***. That's what the guy was complaining about, and he was right - I remember how happy I was to know there would be more Borderlands way back in January or February.

In other words, yes, *it was shoddy journalism*. (Not that's anything new when it comes to gaming journalism. Only sports journalism manages to be worse.) Just as using one new game shoddily announced to beat on a dead horse *also* is shoddy journalism... Shoddiness seems to be contagious, doesn't it?

Bulletstorm was everything Duke Nukem Forever should have been, and I would be proud of it, too.
This.

Also, Epic's attitude is not only about empowering their developers and pure belief on their work. It's also smart from a business perspective. These days, you don't get a new IP out the door and then sell millions right away. You gotta work on it. Like it or not, Bulletstorm is different, it was well-received critically, and as he said, it's AAA content with great technical quality overall. Give it another go and it'll stick. I'm sure if they find a way to include competitive multiplayer in Bulletstorm 2, it will sell double right out of the gate, and then some more.

@Nadril: I believe MK requires you to download an online pass, right? If so, these used to be handled by the PS Store. If this is true, you may need to wait for the STORE to come back and won't be able to play MK online even if online multiplayer is restored right now.
(unless, of course, you have already downloaded the online pass on launch day. I guess sometimes it's good to be an early customer...)

One more piece of not-news ending with a half-truth - that the only 'true' issue at hand is Sony's network security. No, it is *one* of two true issues at hand.

The other is the fact that no network is really secure and can be hacked at any moment - it just takes someone motivated enough to do it. This fact behooves us to take pains to avoid giving personal/cc info whenever possible, AND reminds us that hacking is a serious problem that should be taken more seriously by the authorities.

While a lot of government entities are spending a lot of time making it harder for Sony than it already is - it's Sony that'll bear the lion's share of the financial losses, for god's sake - the invader(s) are out there, laughing and (probably) sitting on our info.

FRIGGIN' PRIORITIES, PEOPLE. First, get the robbers. THEN the government-backed parasites can put Sony against the wall.

It's actually good to get bigger games in the first quarter, when we get way less releases overall. Actually, it'd be good for Skyrim to be pushed back to that time also. Leave the holidays for the multiplayer-focused /shorter single-player campaign blockbusters such as Uncharted 3, CoD, Halo and the like.

Oh, I see now why I was able to play the game after the patch - I started a new game instead of loading the old one started months ago. It was only one hour of play anyway.

BUT that doesn't mean I didn't encounter problems. I have a Brazilian X360 set to English instead of Portuguese, and now the game displays a number of dialog options and HUD lines in... Spanish!
At first I thought it was due to Dead Money, which I bought but haven't played yet. But even simple, standard dialog options - such as the 'Goodbye' one in almost every conversation - come out in Spanish sometimes. Fortunately Spanish and Portuguese are similar enough I can understand the messed up lines, but it's still... Well, messed up :)
