I had a dream about Deadly Premonition the other night. I was searching tobacco stores for HEAVY branded cigarettes and coffee.

If it were released around the time of the first season, I might've, but I can't bring myself to watch any of the following seasons.

@Aljosa15: Is Beyond Good & Evil 2 a sure thing, then? Haven't followed up on it since it seemed to be pushed aside for the new PoP, but I'd love to see that game come out next year. If it's a possibility, I'm with you on that.

"And for this year's kid's choice award Game of the Year - Modern Warfare 2."

Audience begins to clap slowly, camera pans to machine guns ripping holes into innocent bystanders.

Given the remainder of the choices, those aren't too bad at all.  What's bad is that people are still trying to decide on last year's best moments. We're nearly half-way through 2010, might as well just do this year's GotY.

Braid and Castle Crashers - these types of games are why XBLM exists.

" @JokerSmilez:  I don't know what to say, if you think dedicated servers are a "feature" then this thread is like me trying to explain theoretical physics to a child. It's pretty much going to be hopeless. At the end of the day, games are about having fun, but I only like to play the very best games, and if your standards were as high as mine then you would understand why the MW2 thing was an issue that warrants not paying money for an Activision shooter again.  Gabe Newell summed it up very well: It's about publishers providing their customers with a valuable service. PC gamers are people who spend thousands of dollars on a gaming computer, and 50 bucks a month on broadband internet. They have the money to buy games. But if a game isn't worth buying, well, you see what happens. It's about quality products, publishers and developers you can trust. After MW2, I know not to trust Activsion and Infinity Ward, simple as that. I know the majority of gamers still bought the game, I mean, it is a big brand name with a substantial marketing budget, this is capitalism after all. But as I said, I have higher than average standards. For example, unless Activision publishes something better than TF2 why am I going to pay them for it when Valve does it 100 times better, giving me a better service for less money, giving me more fun without me feeling ripped off? "
You prefer a format that's more expensive, as it caters to an audience that can afford more great games, yet you're refusing to buy anything, if it's not Team Fortress 2? I don't blame you for not wanting to play Modern Warfare 2 on PC, by the way. I wouldn't either. While you're stuck awaiting a game that matches the quality of a three year old piece of software, how exactly do you propose that you'd make a valid comparison without first playing any of the games the competition has to offer? If I sat around waiting for games to surpass my favorite titles in quality, I'd be sitting in front of my NES playing Super Mario Bros 3 right now. Anyway, if I could afford a PC at the moment, I'm not so sure I'd bite the bullet for Team Fortress 2 alone. It works well enough on the Xbox 360 for me to save a few thousand dollars to put towards the remainder of the year's excellent games. I guess it becomes hard to appreciate the value of a game through review copies, though. So what do I know?I have just as limited a perspective as anyone else. My only PC experiences anymore seem to be RTS games and games designed for Net Books, which I'm totally fine with.

I voted for the original. Although Melee's probably the better game compared directly, Super Smash Bros. was one of my favorite N64 titles and was one of the only decent fighting games for the console. I remember the novelty of all the best Nintendo characters being thrown into one game feeling so original back then. Plus, I liked all of the characters - there are a few in Melee I could live without. All great games though.

" You honestly believe Jaffe is ENVIOUS?  Get over yourself. He wasn't going off so much as when Kotaku decided to cover him and totally leave out the paragraph where it's clear it was a joke. The whole post was in jest, but apparently people like you just jump on him for nothing. "
If the original article had clearly been communicated as a joke, the story wouldn't have been picked up elsewhere. If that was Kotaku's goal, to mislead their readers and portray a big industry name in return for hits, I've lost all respect for their site - but I don't think Kotaku would do that. I'm not a fan of their site or even a regular reader, but they have enough credibility not to publish misleading articles. That's all besides the point, though. If you would play both Scrap Metal and Calling All Cars, you'd understand the plausible reasoning for him to be envious.

David Jaffe's apparently suggesting Sony sue Microsoft due to Scrap Metal's title being too close to Twisted Metal...

Not sure how much merit this lawsuit could have. I spent about 40 minutes at PAX talking to both developer's and they assured me they'd never heard of Twisted Metal, let alone had ever played the game. The reference points they brought up were classic arcade top-down racers, games that Scrap Metal more closely resembles.

Sure, there are striking similarities in a lot of Scrap Metal's ideas, but I'd wager Jaffe's envious and wishes his Calling All Cars! game would've received the same reception from critics.

EuroGamer has also published a disagreeable 4/10 review for Scrap Metal. I understand these European sites trying to emulate EDGE's success by under-rating games, but this just isn't honest.
