  • The Witcher is one of those games where you've heard of it, didn't really put much thought to it at the time, eventually got around to playing it, didn't understand what all the fuss was about, but then three days later you find yourself diving back into its seemingly never-ending story. Since 2007, a year hasn't gone by where I haven't at least attempted a play through. The Enhanced Edition just makes it even more of a delight to play as well. This game is for the raw RPG enthusiast. Very immersing, extremely challenging and it always keeps you thinking. With over 80 hours of non-linear role playing, crazy conspiracies and weird-ass monsters, this game should well and truly please any RPG fan. The only downside of this game is Chapter II, but I'll say no more on that front.

  • The Assassin's Creed franchise has always intrigued me. Ubisoft have devised a very unique way to allow the public to interact with events from the past (even if they're extremely fabricated). The total amount of time I have spent playing the AC games could almost add up to one year. Fun, awesomeness, face-stabbing. What more could you want?

For a full consensus, please read my Assassin's Creed II review.

  • Half Life 2 was my first foray into "proper" gaming. With it came its multi player counter parts like Counter Strike Source. The downside of this of course being Steam. After struggling a lot with the old school original, I still found the story interesting and was eager to find out what would happen after Half Life 1. The setting, mood and characters of the half life universe make it a truly unique game and one that I would highly recommend to single player FPS enthusiasts. All in all, this makes my number one favourite game of all time as I will always have a soft spot for it.

  • The Fable universe fills an odd space in my game collection. Just when I think I've made my mind up about it, something else crops up that makes me rethink my opinion completely. I fell in love with the high fantasy of the first game and its equal mix of RPG and action adventure.

Fable 2 innovated on the original, straying from done-to-death high fantasy themes and trappings and headed into a steam punk Victorian setting. This is where Lionhead clearly had a firm foothold with where they wanted to go and felt comfortable with the unique design.

Fable 3 should have been the magnum opus of the franchise, but it seemed like the bad points out weighed the good and Lionhead, through some odd design choices, seemed to lose that firm foothold that was so evident in Fable 2. For me however, the good points still shined. Tighter controls and improved character interaction may have put the game on the right track but it just didn't make the station on time.

After Fable 3, my faith in the franchise has dwindled. However, it holds many fond memories for me during the early days of the Xbox and I won't let one, while not necessarily BAD, but not great, Fable game shatter the fun times I had with the previous two.

  • Being a huge sci-fi fan, Mass Effect gave to me what I loved most about the genre - space exploration and uncharted worlds. Along with its extremely cool and synthy soundtrack, this game saw many playthroughs by me. Even if on the last playthrough, before Mass Effect 2, I dreaded the Mako and its horrible traversing of uncharted planets, as do we all.
