Nice, awesome to hear!  It seems like this will work out really well, thanks for the input everyone!  The switch to swap inputs sounds pretty sweet, will definitely.  Actually this morning I started slightly rethinking what I'm going to do a little bit, might just get a TV instead, not sure yet.  I was getting the Xbox 360 to run games, but a big part would have been Hulu Plus and Netflix.  I'm going to UBC in Vancouver for grad school and apparently you can't get Hulu in Canada and Netflix options blow their as well, so might have to get a TV with cable regardless :(  Blah.

So many good things about Canada, but their media and telecommunications (3 year contracts?! Pshhhh) suck big time!

@cartvader: Nice!  Is 23" a decent size do you think?  I'm looking to spend as little as possible as I'm not HUGE into gaming, but would love to get into some MK and the occasional RPG.  Hell, I'm sure anything would look huge compared to my 13" laptop screen, haha! Although I do love the portability of it.

Thanks for the replies; looks like I'll definitely go the monitor route then!  I had a set of logitech speakers, and it looks like that one from new egg would let me plug the speakers in.  I'll shop around for a bit and see what kind of deals pop up here and there, but thanks for the feedback.  It's nice to know that it works well for you guys!

Hey everyone!  So I'm thinking about getting a 360 for when I head out to grad school (ditching cable and going with Netflix and Hulu Plus, so figured I'd get a 360).  I have laptop (Macbook pro 13" 2011 model) and was thinking about saving money and just getting a monitor to function as both a bigger screen for my laptop, as well as my TV and gaming screen.

I know it's possible to use a monitor as a Xbox 360 screen, but is it actually a good idea?  I was thinking maybe something in the 25" - 27" range, nothing too extravagant.  Something like...   http://tinyurl.com/44dpruf  .  Or would just getting a 27" TV be the better option here?  I wouldn't mind moving a monitor back and forth between rooms, so that's not really an issue.

Any advice would be good!  Thanks!
