Over the Last Couple of Days I've been Checking Out 2 Games-
- Far Cry 2
- Battlefield Heroes
I'm Going to Talk about the Later today as i Give My Impressions of the game.
1.Style-
The Game Oozes with its own Toy Soldiers Style and Although it may be compared to TF2, its really much more cartoony and playful.
Some of this Style can be seen in this trailer.
2.Class Balance -
The Game Features 3 Classes, the Gunner, Soldier and Commando.
The Gunner is a heavy weapons class and the Soldier is a balanced Utility Class with special Abilites such as An AOE heal and Sticky Dynamite.
Third But not Least is the Commando who acts as a Combo of the Sniper and Spy Classes from TF2.
The Classes are suprisingly very Balanced and each has its own strengths and Weaknesses.
The Classes are Shown in this Trailer-
3.Vehicles-
There are 3 Types of Vehicles in Play for Battlefield Heroes, the Jeep which acts as a fast Moving transport vehicle for up to three players, The Tank which has a powerful cannon and a turret seat for a second player. The Final Vehicle is the Plane, which can be very difficult to Fly but can be deadly if used correctly as a final Special Feature The Plane allows other players to hang onto the wings of the plane and hitch a ride.
4.Customization and Progression-
One of the Strengths of Battlefield Heroes is its Progression System, which is similiar to Call of Duty 4/Halo 3 with your character earning Xp and Going Up Ranks, however the Key Difference being that you recieve Xp For any damage done as well as capturing Objectives.
Battlefield Heroes allows you to Customize your Character using 3 Currencies.
- Ability Points:These Can Be Spent on upgrading and learning abilities for your Character, these are Earned By ranking up.
- Valour Tokens: These Are Earnined by Playing the Game, and Can be Spent on New Weapons or Cosmetic Items for your Character.
- Battlefunds:These Are Points that must be Bought Using REAL money and Can Permenantly Unlock Items For Your Character.
What do you mean Permenently Unlock? You might be Thinking, well in Battlefield Heroes you Spend Valour Tokens to 'Rent' Weapons and Items For a period of time usually a week or A Month at most, this may seem a bad choice on EA's part Initially but actually it Gives you Some Incentive to Continue Playing the Game and as the Weapons aren't Overpowered you wont suddendly be Unable to Play once you Lose your Weapons.
5.Will it Succeed?
I Feel the Game Has the Potential To Succed if-
1.They Constantly Update the Game With new Items and Maps.
2.They Add More Depth to the Game.
3.EA doesn't make it Neccesary to use Battlefunds.
