When I get home I'm going to get a subscription. Long time lurker and long time listener of the Bombcast. I should have done it before, but now I feel more than ever that I need to show support!
It might be a nice way for them to commemorate Ryan to do it today, then take a break for awhile.
But at the end of the day, it's clear to see what an effect this has had on us, people who simply visit this site / listen to Bombcast, I can't imagine how hard it is for those who knew Ryan personally / interacted with him on a daily basis. If it was me, I don't think I'd be able to do it, it's to fresh :(
This has upset me in ways I can't really describe. Such a talented man, just married and with what should have been years ahead of him. My heart goes out to his family and all at Giant Bomb. As one of our twitter followers just said, Tuesdays will never be the same again :( RIP Ryan.
While I really liked Tomb Raider, it's Bioshock Infinite for me right now, while I'm enjoying the Last of Us, I'll hold off judgement until it's done.
But in the grand scheme of Game of the Year, it's early days yet. There's a new console gen that will bring new things like Watch Dogs and Dead Rising 3. Also when you consider games like Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Wonderful 101 are just around the corner, I'd say Tomb Raider has a high chance of being top 5 (or more realistically top 10) by the end of the year...
I used to love JRPGs, I grew up with my brother's hand me down SNES titles and longed for something more. These days, I still buy and collect them, but I find the better ones tend to be released for handhelds... I've even just imported an NTSC 3DS (cheers Nintendo...) to play SMT4 and Etrian Odyssey 4, as the PAL release date for both seems years away...
Other than that,Shumps! Gotta love that bullet hell! It's one of the purest forms of gaming in my eyes. You need to not over think and rely purely on hand-eye co-ordination and skill. There is some learning of patterns, but when you're not playing in an arcade / for the mandatory 'complete the game without continues' achievement, it's not enough of a hindrance for casual players.
