Retail PC games. Bought in stores. On shiny CD's and floppy floppies.

Hey, this is the list of PC games I've bought in stores and stuff. Unlike those digital downloads I had created another list for.

A lot of these are even complete with those beautiful, giant paper boxes, printed manuals thick as bibles, 5.25 inch floppies and annoying price tags you can't remove without destroying the cover art.

NOTICE: I'm in the process of splitting this list up by platform, as I have multiple copies across multiple platforms for many games, and editing such a big list became pretty tedious. This list will soon only be PC games, the others will probably be divided by platform manufacturer (i.e. Nintendo Consoles, Sony Consoles etc.), though I have yet to figure that part out.

1. Wing Commander

The PC version. My brother bought this in 1991, but I am pretty sure I've been the one playing it the most, and since he lost his interest in games, I've had the box for the last 15 years or so.
2. Wing Commander: Prophecy

Bought this from a classmate who got it bundled with his computer. For some reason he had no interest in space shooters.
3. Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom

The first PC game I bought for my own money, back in 1997, for my new, very own computer I had been promised, a Pentium 60 mhz I think. I never got the computer though, and for the first couple of years I played it on my father's machine.
4. Command & Conquer

The DOS version bought in 1998, also got the Windows 95 version in the "The First Decade" collection which I bought later.
5. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun

I think I bought this in 1999 or early 2000. It ran horribly slow on the PC I had then, but the graphics looked fantastic, and the music was awesome, so I didn't care.
6. Command & Conquer: Red Alert

I own several copies of this, even though I really never liked the Red Alert games as much as I did the original C&C/Tiberium games.
Anyway, I own the original boxed DOS/Windows 95 version which I bought in 1999, the "The First Decade" version, and the PlayStation 1 port.
7. Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations

First bought separately for the DOS version I own, then got another copy with TFD.
8. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

The PC version, got it ridiculously cheap for 49 SEK / ~5€ just a few months after it was released.
9. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

The complete edition with both Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath, bought for 99 SEK (~10€) in a nearby food store.

11. Emperor: Battle for Dune
12. Blade Runner

Bought in Sci-Fi Bokhandeln back when they used to carry games around 2000. I think it cost 150 SEK.
13. Das Boot: German U-Boat Simulation

With the entire novel as a bonus with the box. And some long-outdated coupon for getting the movie on VHS for cheap.
14. F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon

The Gold Edition which includes the first expansion.

I own multiple copies of this, the first I bought was the Quake 1 and The Ultimate Doom bundle, then I bought the Quake collection with Quake 1-3 (without any expansions for either), and later I have bought the entire Id Software collection on Steam, yet again including this game.

I own two copies of this, the original boxed release with a 100 page manual and stuff, and the later DVD re-release which included the expansion pack.

Included with my second copy of BG2.
23. Total Annihilation

The original version without any of the expansions.
24. StarCraft

The CD key sticker became unreadable after a couple of years. So I bought another copy.
25. StarCraft: Brood War

Two copies, one stand alone copy which I bought for my first copy of StarCraft, the other was included with my second copy of SC.
26. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness

I own two copies of this, the original DOS release, and the Battle.net Edition for Windows.

28. Shattered Steel

The original DOS version, not including any Windows 95 stuff.

Bought this back in the late 90's, the original release of Independence War without the expansion.
31. Independence War Deluxe

When I couldn't find the expansion anywhere, I bought the Deluxe edition in a Spelia store, shortly before the entire chain was closed down. Back in 2003-04 I think.
32. Independence War 2: Edge Of Chaos

Bought this in a Tradition store (later acquired by EB Games/GameStop) in Göteborg, probably in 2002.
33. Descent: Freespace - The Great War

The original release without the expansion.
34. Descent Maximum

Only named Descent in Europe. The PlayStation 1 port of Descent 1 with some PSX exclusive stuff.

Part of the Descent Definite Collection.

47. LHX: Attack Chopper

Boxed copy of the PC CD-ROM version, with a 100 page manual and beautiful CGI artwork.

The PC version has some of the greatest Adlib music of all time.
49. Carmageddon

Just wishing I had the european PSX version, with some of the worst Swedish dubbing of all time.

This game has been released as open source since I bought it. And it's still awesome, and still has control issues.

Complete version with the expansion and the two DLC's, the latter rather useless since they were made available for everyone with the 1.50 patch.

The Redux Edition. I have no idea what's different compared to the original release.
72. Codename: Eagle

The game that started the Battlefield franchise. I let a friend borrow the disc and never got it back.

Game of the year edition with all the expansions. PC.

Ended up here thanks to spying it in the similar lists section beside my own, just wanted to say 1) impressive & 2) that I made some sort of involuntary whining noise reading " beautiful, giant paper boxes, printed manuals thick as bibles, 5.25 inch floppies and annoying price tags you can't remove without destroying the cover art." @velucyraptor: heh, as my library of multiple copies of the same game for different platforms is ever growing I'm kind of thinking of splitting this list up in platform specific ones.

As for the price tags, my primary offender is The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, which is still in perfect condition except for a huge green sticker over the logo that the store I got it from 17 years ago thought was a good addition to the cover art.
