After the thread I started a while back that contained a lot of Fatal Frame footage, I became rather interested in the games. I managed to pick up both quite cheaply for a total of £15, however I am only able to enjoy half of what I paid for. Of course since the games were original XBOX games, I check Microsoft's
"Backwards Compatibility" list. Both games were there, under the title "Fatal Frame", however in the PAL regions they are known as Project Zero. The games arrived today and I placed Project Zero in to my Xbox 360 only to have this pop up:
So despite being the same game as Fatal Frame, Project Zero does not work on the Xbox 360. I did a little more reaserch (which I should've done anyway) and found out that it's only compatibile in Japan. That's fantastic news if you have a Japanese Xbox 360, but considering that it was on the backwards compatibile list for Great Britain shows a lack of care on Microsofts part. I know this isn't the first time there's been evidence of Microsoft's carlessness but I'm still quite annoyed that I'm unable to play the game. When I have some more money I'll see if I can buy an original XBOX, and then I might be able to buy a couple of other greats I remember without having to worry about this backwards compatibility bullshit.
As for Project Zero II: Crimson Butterfly, I've only played the beginning of the game and I was already squinting like a little girl... in broad daylight and I'm not home alone. I'm also going to a sleepover at a friend's house soon and I planned on bringing both of the Project Zero games, looks like I'll only be taking one. I'll still have fun though, and I'm grateful that at least one works.
