Well, if the first game is sorta riffing off of "X-files." This game seems to be riffing off of "V."

I can't think of a more under appreciated or overlooked game...

@sravankb: I actually agree with you on this. However, when they tried to be subtle and a bit more grounded in the world of GTA: We got GTA 4 which was self serious and jarring imo. I actually liked the over the top nature of GTA 5 which I feel is the right tone for that series/world.

I think if Rockstar wants more to be more subtle they should create a different world.

@dan_citi: Its not so much trying to be "edgy" as it is completely absurd. That Trevor essentially "doing the right thing"(letting him go) by way of a bizarre technicality on his own personal honor.

That whole scenario(the torture stuff)is just a set up to get us to examine what a broken lunatic/homicidal child that Trevor is. But it doesn't really take itself seriously enough to be "edgy." imo.

In fact, I can't think anything in that game, tonally, that constitutes as "edgy."(thankfully)

I don't know. I'm really on the fence. It looks really generic gameplay wise. I've never been a fan of the steampunk motif.

However, the graphic fidelity looks nice in that it would show off the PS4. So, if the game isn't a complete disaster(gameplay): I may pick it up for that reason alone.

Lets be honest here: its slim pickings right now. The next major game is Bloodborne in March.

Didn't bother me. I find shit like American Psycho to be hilarious. Trevor made the game for me. Its not a dude I would want to hang out with in reality. BUUUT, that game wasn't reality. It was a satirical take on crime and violence. Honestly, I didn't find anything offensive in that game at all. Then again, I'm not easily offended...

I just finished this last night. I thought it was a solid game(8/10). The art design and sound team should win an award. I think the the game is certainly a tad too long. But, I circumvented slogging through by playing the game over the course of a month. It certainly prevented the game becoming a chore. If you only play a chapter a night the game never seemed to overstay its welcome. I can't imagine marathoning this game at all(which is why I feel some reviewers had problems with it).

The game in its earlier parts really does give a real sense of dread/fear. But, after you settle in that gets replaced with occasional moments of tension.

I grabbed pretty much all the collectibles(I missed one archive log 149?). I found the archive logs to give some interesting context on occasion. The Nostromo Logs/ID tags ended up being pretty much pointless.

I found the crafting and inventory system to be largely extraneous. I rarely used any of my items. They became even more irrelevant when you get the flamethrower. Since I was always looking out for collectibles, I always had supplies.

I got the vast majority of the trophies(I think I am missing 4?). However, I do not feel like getting the platinum. The game doesn't make me want to replay it again. After putting in about 25 hours, I think the game is too draining for another round. I felt I got all I wanted out of the game once I finished.

Also, I kinda felt the ending was kinda stupid:

I'm with the game trying to make the Alien more or less invincible. But, I think it went a bit too far times. It kinda defied the established canon from the films on a couple of occasions. I can get with the fact that your firearms have no effect as a game conceit.

But, the ending where you are on the space walk and you detonate the umbilical to the Torrens: that kinda broke it for me a bit. The aliens can now survive the vacuum of space? How were they not getting sucked off the umbilical?

Not to mention, how did an alien even get on the Torrens?

Anyways, that didn't ruin the game for me by any stretch. I just thought it was kinda goofy.

Point taken, though I'm still not in total agreement with you here. I think that both Cara and Zoe are perfectly funny/entertaining through the media that I follow them on right now, and this is in a situation where making people chuckle isn't exactly their first priorities. Though if a goofball is the void that's being left (by both Ryan and Vinny, no less), I'm not sure that essentially "filling" that void is the best course of action. Regardless of any qualities that the new hire has (male/female, young/old), they aren't going to be any of the people who left.

But to each their own! I stand by my Cara/Zoe hopes, and I definitely wouldn't want to make it seem like I'm whining and insisting that people nod their heads and agree with me. As a "lady-type" myself, they just really fit the bill for me! (Unsurprisingly, though, I've also always really enjoyed Patrick's contributions to the group, especially in SF.)

Oh yes it is. You need someone who can play off of Jeff. Danny O Dwyer is a guy who can do that. Carrie is also a person who can do that. Another guy who could do that is Justin Mcelroy.

Thats what you need. If you don't replace that; the bombast will become flat.
