Mass Effect 3's multiplayer is simply lazy. There are only five maps. There are only three enemy types. The difference between Bronze/Silver/Gold is that they spawn more enemies and the enemies have higher HP. Core functionality is missing, like kicking players who go AFK or replacing players who leave. Instead of fleshing out a huge unlock system akin to Modern Warfare, they have the polar opposite. And, of course, you can only play horde mode.

My N7 level is around 300. I've spent a decent chunk of time with the multiplayer, and, for what it's worth, I enjoy it. It's light fun, but it's nothing compared to games that focus on having quality multiplayer. BioWare didn't invest enough time developing ME3's multiplayer to warrant taking it seriously.

If BioWare hired me for a day to play armchair game designer, I'd give players an unlock of their choosing every time they promote a character. Simply gaining 10 N7 levels and meaningless war assets feels pointless. By allowing me to hand pick my unlock, I could have an attainable goal in mind while grinding.

That photo is proof of winning.

Winning does not involve hover hands.

Health potions have a cooldown. Town portal has a cast time. Diablo 2 is the "dumber" game.

The emotional punch I felt after watching the time capsule sequence was second to none across the entire series. I immediately regretted not choosing Liara as my love interest. It was a rare kind of touching moment that doesn't happen frequently enough in this medium.

My runner-up is Thane's death. It's also touching, especially if you play a femshep who romanced him in 2.

But the game is full of poignant moments with characters I've grown to love. The outrage over the ending stems from how fantastic the rest of the game is.

I took one look at that 3.0 and cancelled my Amazon preorder like a gag reflex.

The FTC and BBB are obviously not going to do anything.  In terms of affecting change, he might as well have filed a complaint with TGI Fridays or Jiffy Lube.  They don't care.  It's a fucking video game.
All this does is serve as an example of how extremely mad some members of the audience are.  A lot of people dislike endings, but how many times have you read that people filed complaints?  It's a funny headline that gets Mass Effect some exposure in mainstream media.
That said, the ending is terrible and should be changed.

The Wachowskis could have written a better ending to this trilogy than Mac Walters.

No mate, it feels just like nowadays Blizzard. They were quite a while working on Starcraft 2 and they they decided to go "hey, whatever, the first game had three races and three campaigns but we're ditching it and instead launching a game with just one campaign. Also you know that seamless integration between lore, game mechanics and units? We're ditching it too, 'cause e-sports don't need no story."

Kotaku ran a storyabout how so few people completed the long campaign, that Blizzard is making Heart of the Swarm's campaign shorter.  There would have been no purpose to adding even more single player content beyond what's in the box.
Did you even play it?  It has one of the longest campaigns with the highest production values of any RTS game.

On Topic:
The PvP Arena is a complete diversion that has nothing to do with the core game.  Its absence is inconsequential, especially for players who are brand new.  When they finally finish it, you'll have leveled a character that is ready for it.
Not that I'm making excuses for Blizzard.  I think they're incompetent.  This game should have come out, feature complete, at least a year ago.

Saren, the Collectors, and The Illusive Man are the central antagonists that carry their respective games. The Reapers are just a McGuffin.

They could easily make more Mass Effect games using another McGuffin. Maybe Shepard's uncle needs a heart transplant, but the operation costs $10,000, and the only way to earn that kind of money is to win a ballroom dancing competition. Before he can win the competition he needs lessons, but the Citadel's best ballroom dancing instructor gets kidnapped by the Vorcha. The Vorcha are angry that they never win the competition, so they're going around the galaxy eliminating their rivals. Shepard has to stop the Vorcha, learn to dance, win the competition, and save his uncle's life. Mass Effect 4: Dancing in the Stars.

If any of the companion characters could have supported his own spin-off game, it would have been Thane.
