Seriously, in my opinion i think that many comic book and video game fans have wanted to see this for years and years.  They made Marvel vs. Capcom and then they Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.  They are so many characters that they could pick from so that people would be using they same people over and over because there are not enough playable characters.  Yes, i understand liscencing and contracts could have gotten in the way of earlier proposed like this but i think that there are enough fans that those buisness tycoons will understand ( actually i doubt they would but it makes this sound better).  So let me think about what you think about this proposed idea and how you think that it would come out ok?

I know right! I would so love to play a Marvel vs DC game.

It'd be pretty cool, but I dont know how well it'd work. I mean, Superman would curbstomp almost anyone in Marvel, and almost everyone in marvel would kick every other DC characters ass. 

Even though I'd love to see something like this, I don't see Marvel and DC being able to get an agreement on it while also getting a suitable developer to create the game.

The problem with DC characters is they all look the same and have one of two super powers. Super Strength, and the ability to fly. Or both. Great. No thanks. At least the marvel characters are all different looking enough to stay interesting, and all have interesting super powers or mutations.

They should do Naruto or Shonen Jump vs Capcom.
 
The ability to get out of a combo, which is a trademark of Naruto, would be a really interesting addition to any 2D fighter.  You'd radically change up how you play them.  Currently combos are like the end all be all in 2D fighters but that wouldn't be the case.  
 
Being able to enter in combo button presses is the primary skill of 2D fighters.  When you allow people to substitute (I think it should drain your super meter so that you can't go crazy with it), entering combo commands is a super small part of being good with combos.  The opponent can pop behind or away from you to counter, meaning that you have to be able to quickly stop your commands and not leave yourself open.  Super bar management becomes even more important and you can do partial combos to trick people into wasting a substitution or trying to counter you, thinking that you're still gonna be going for one or two more hits when you're actually ready.

Marvel and DC have collaborated in the past with cross over comics, but I think a Marvel vs DC game would ever come to fruition "

A major thing stopping the two is licensing.  Capcom owns Capcom characters.  Midway owned the rights to Mortal Kombat.  For DC vs MK, they only have to pay to license from one company.  The same goes for Marvel vs Capcom.  If it's Marvel vs DC, they have to pay licensing and royalities to two companies.
 
I doubt Marvel and DC are gonna pull a saint move and be like, "We'll charge Capcom half the price so that it's not too expensive for them.  We're doing this one for the good of gamers!"
 
That's not gonna be the case at all.  The guys who own Superman and Batman are gonna want so real deal money for those characters.  The people who own X-Men and Spider-Man are gonna want some real deal money for those characters.
 
To even break even the game would probably have to sell some ridiculous amount that seems impossible, thus Capcom doesn't go for it.
