I'm wondering which character everyone picked for their first run. From the coverage that I've seen, it seems that most people went with Leon. Going off of the stuff from the original, however, I chose Claire. Her guardian dynamic with Sherry was much more interesting than Leon's weird sexual-tension-filled interactions with Ada.
As for the game itself, I'm still very early on (haven't made it past the demo bits). Playing it in the hardcore mode though I'm totally getting that old-school survival-horror feel from the early games, but with modern gameplay sensibilities. I think this is the game that a lot die-hard Resident Evil fans were waiting for.
I like everything that it's doing audio-visually, but aside from that I just don't know what kind of game it wants to be. The presentation suggests slow and deliberate play, but if you go with that you die of hunger. If they want you to make fast Spelunky-esque runs then why are the levels so dark, foggy and filled with insta-kill traps? I dunno, I'm also just fed up with run-based game at this point. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this game after it being so long in development.
Well, onto the next Game Pass game ... Ashen and Below didn't do it for me. Let's see what Mutant Year Zero is about!
I was thinking about it since Waypoint is doing a 101 on it, but it's so close to release that I don't want to get burned out on open-world cowboys. Maybe I'll put it in, if there's a lull, just to get a feel for how different 2 is.
The reason I fell in love with and kept playing Metal Gear was to experience the story and Kojima weirdness. If the gameplay turns out to be something cool and unique, good; If it's just another stealth-action game, fine - it's not what I come to Kojima's games for. So, I don't need to see what the flow of the game will be, I'll be playing it regardless. The less I know going in, the better.
That said, what they show here is not a trailer, more of a clip from a cutscene of a boss fight. And if that's what they're showing at this point, just go silent and finish the game.
I don't think she's irredeemable. I liked her arc throughout the trilogy as well. Also, she refuses to join the human-survivalist group, so there's that.
I fell off of ASG in the middle of the Frieza saga. I think I bogged myself down by committing to the original run of DBZ. I'll get back to it eventually. Good to see the pod might be coming back (from a break?).
