Gearbox release party for Hells Highway not so great (for non VIP ppl), this game looks like it will put Gearbox back in my favorites list. Looks wicked cool.
Really enjoying the X-Men Wolverine game, it's always fun to just take out the stress of the day by turning into a walking blender to shred through dozens of people. The utter damn flaw in the game though is that there is a statistic list showing how many of the 95 collectables there are but not a simple patched thing of telling you at least if you've gotten them all in a level or not. Since I'm only missing 1 of the 95, I really don't want to go through the whole game yet again to find the one I missed. I was following the Rooster Teeth Achievement Hunter for finding them which worked out well but I'm guessing that I got one near the end of a level or died right before a checkpoint save meaning it respawned. After finishing the game & going through it to get ALMOST all the ones I'm missing it's all blurred together on what one freaking thing is missing.
Heh since I rented the game I'll pick it up later through gamefly & burn through that again as well as getting the last two reflex skills to finish that part off as well.
I'm not sure who let this one get out the door but it's quite buggy & just not all that interesting from the short amount of time I played on the tutorial & first level. Apart from the fact that the game had to be installed again after thinking that a patch would fix some noticable things, like many of the powers (accessed from the scroll wheel) and that would pull up a large black box obscuring most of the screen when it's selected or just not that great of a power to begin with. I can't review it as the bugs made it really hard to play it as many of the moments of saving the people in a large empty city from giant bug-like creatures with ineffective guns, scary looking cinematics that look like a early 2000 game not something made in 2006, unlikeable characters & a point based kill system which goes to a store to buy upgrades where everything is so expensive that I couldn't find it worth it to keep going.  video link of how to spot it & avoid: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/dirt-origin-of-the-species-/1776Â
It's not that bad from the first one but it gets excessively boring on getting anywhere & having to unlock the path from system to system. You'd think they'd give you a feature after a while to just automatically unlock the system gates. Agreed on the story being dull, if you go the killer omg approach as in the previous puzzle quest (ie. free turn ability to clear one color, then double the mine count on your first turn) this tends to knock out most of the other ships or really really dent it a lot. Without the penalty of loss apart from the time spent, redoing battles rather painless if it doesn't work. If the match is starting to go downhill for you just ignore the enemy & start collecting psi or intel gems as that will stay with you when you lose or win then just try again at nuking the other ship.
Tried it out on the xbox360 & really liking the look/feel of the game. There are some tricky spots where the sheep seemed to go into a corner & not get out quickly enough but aside from that it's fun but sometimes tricky. Luckily the levels aren't that long (on the demo) in time to get through them.
With even bigger coffee mug in hand I declare this one of the most funniest things I've read in quite a long time, frickin hilarious. Bits like this from GiantBomb is why this site rocks!
All kinds of endless crazy going on with this guy which makes other hardcore game fanboys tame. This guy needs to break out the extra heavy duty tinfoil for hats & smoke more rare Japanese sushi flavoured crack as he's clearly on something he shouldn't be taking, at least he's not running around handmaking all kinds of Nintendo character outfts & spamming (him wearing the outfits) in Flickr/Facebook/Myspace/etc.
Still hoping that someone working high up on this game listens to the Bombcast recently involving Phelps vs Hitler, that will get people buying the game. Hell even just pitting Phelps vs Costner from Waterworld on one level & have the next level with Phelps underwater racing/fighting Aquaman, Sub-Mariner & Ecco the dolphin will sell the game. It sounds like the game that 505 Games wants to do most likely have the most action in the cinematic behind the title screen before the game starts, then it's all downhill from there.
