" If a PS3 can do Uncharted 2 at 60fps then its entirely possible. "
Uncharted 2 uses a completely different engine as far as I'm aware of. Not to mention Crysis is much more open and technically superior. As said before, unless they really lower the graphical quality or remake it completely on the new CryEngine it wont happen.

" So i checked metacritic and the game has 89/100 in critic reviews. How can any responsible reviewer be so far against EVERYONE else in this case "
Derr, maybe because responsible reviewers are meant to review games and share their opinion on it rather than just giving it the same score everyone else does? I'm not saying Kirby's Epic Yarn was a good or bad game (I've never played it), but c'mon, just because everyone else is giving a game a good score doesn't mean that you should too.

They are and they aren't. For games with a large universe or story they're great, and as you said they can help improve a game or bring it into a newer generation. But they can also ruin a great series. Then there's stuff like the Call of Duty franchise, where they aren't continuing a story or universe, they aren't drasticly improving any game mechanics (Except for Call of Duty 4), all they're doing is making money off a big name.

It pretty simple: "What game are you going to tear into on Christmas day (for non-Christians, what game are you gonna start playing when your vacation starts)?

Uh.... I'm an atheist but I still celebrate Christmas.....  "
Same here, pretty much everyone I know celebrates Christmas even though hardly any of them are religious. Besides, wasnt it originally Pagan?

I'll probably be Playing Gran Turismo 5, but since it apparantly takes forever to install I'll probably be playing something else.

@HitmanAgent47:  What I'm saying is those numbers don't really prove whether or not it's a good game, especially since most reviewers now-a-days are so willing to give out 8+ to any major release.  Just looking at the numbers you wont let you know all the good and bad points about the game.

@HitmanAgent47: I don't care about review scores, they're just numbers.

@zombie2011: I'm not paying $700 JUST for GT5, I want a wheel for all the racing games I play on PC, I also need a new DVD/blu-ray player and something to play all the upcoming PS3 exclusives.

@xyzygy: Yeah I know about the grind, one of the biggest things putting me off. Hopefully the multiplayer community is good.

@StaticFalconar: Thanks for the answer man, sounds like I'll get alot of enjoyment out of this game. Forza 3 is starting to get abit stale, especially since I can't find a good wheel for my Xbox.  I'm going to think my about whether to buy it or not abit more but I'll probably pick it up. Thanks!

So I was pretty excited for Gran Turismo 5, I didn't hype it up or follow it closely but I just love semi-realistic/realistic driving games. Almost half my game time is spent on games like ToCA 3, DiRT, GRID and Forza 3 and I was going to buy a PS3 + Driving Force GT just for this game but after reading some of the feedback I'm not so sure. So just a few questions:

- What are the events like? Are they like Forza 3 where it's just "Win 1st in an event against other cars with similar performance" or are there actual racing events with proper rule sets and such?

- I've heard the events get pretty long late game, with some taking hours to complete. Do all the later events take this long or is just a few? I couldn't even do the 40 minute events in Forza 3 because it got too boring.

- Is tuning your cars extensively required to even have a chance in multiplayer or is it mainly just driving skill? I'm a complete newb when it comes to tuning.

- How twitchy or heavy do the cars feel? Do they feel like tow trucks like in Forza 3 or can you actually make a sharp turn without going off the track?

- What happens if you push the cars too hard? Can you get the back end out or spin out?

- What's the mechanical damage like? Do tires wear down? Does your engine overheat? Do thinks break down after long races? etc

And finally..

- For someone who spends alot of time gaming, would this game justify the ~$700AUD spent on a Playstation 3, steering wheel and copy of Gran Turismo 5? (Keep in mind I also want a blu-ray player and I'm interested in some other games)

Thanks for any answers.
