I guess I represent a minority here. I prefer a larger scale, personally. I especially enjoy the simple Pros/Cons at the top that Gamespot has (I noted Gamespot in a positive light for once. So fucking sue me.)  GiantBomb isn't so bad with their little once sentence blurbs before the review either.

Honestly, there are so many games out there that are barely worth my time I'd rather not read a full review unless I'm given a reason to care. If I see something interesting in the "Pros" section I'll take a look at the review. That is, unless I'm already interested in the game.

Now I'm not saying that the 100 scale (or 10 scale with decimals) is always done properly. Actually it almost never is. Much like how many professors grade papers, a grade of 50 isn't generally "half perfection" as I'd like to see it. I would like to see one site do this properly some day. I'm also not saying that GiantBomb has a shitty rating system. It's been alright so far. I would just prefer a "true" 100% system.

Game: Pocket Tanks Deluxe
Platform: PC
Genre: Arcade...tank...shooting game
Why?: So much mindless fun. With like 7 billion weapons and tons of ways you could use them, it really made you think sometimes. Put the CPU difficulty on max, and make the weapon load out random (you get 10 or so random weapons out of a possible 50 or something. Maybe more now with the expansions) and you're in for an awesome game. It's great figuring out how the AI works and finding ways to trick it. Many late nights spent playing that. Fun little soundtrack, too.

Game: Mega Man X5
Platform: PSX
Genre: Platform
Why?: I know what you're thinking. Just because it's a Mega Man game doesn't mean it's a blockbuster. Truth is, MMX5 didn't get nearly as much praise as MM1-3, or MMX1-4. Was it worthy of it? Perhaps. While fundamentally not as amazing as those previously mentioned, MMX5 used many throwbacks to those games. From little hints in the background to the lasers from Quickman's stage. Overall it was a solid Mega Man game, and as a Mega Man nerd it was nice to see old bosses like Rangda Bangda remade for Zero to take a crack at.

@xyzygy:  Haha yeah I feel like "Boogie With Stu" is pretty unsung itself.

Game: Prey
Platform: Xbox 360
Genre: FPS
Why?: Look, I found it for $3.99 in a bargain bin at GameStop. It was a standard, and solid FPS. Having some work done by Art Bell was a nice touch, too. For $3.99 I got about 15 hours of gameplay (maybe a little less. It's been a while) out of it. Take a look at that ratio compared to many other, solo, activities.

First off, this thread will NOT spiral in to a "my game is more rare than yours".  Don't mistake the title of the thread. Unsung. People might know about it, but it may not have gotten that much praise for one reason or another. So let's state what the game is, what platform you played it on, and why it deserved your attention.  I'll start.

Game: Grandia II
Platform: PS2
Genre: JRPG
Why?: It stands as the only JRPG I have ever played where I intentionally walked in to random encounters. I loved the battle system, and while it was a bit easy, it still remains the most fun RPG in my library. The story wasn't the best, but the voice acting was comparatively good and the gameplay was great.

Your turn.

The Cain needs to be at 100%. Yes, it does indeed take a LOT of power cells to use, but it will kill bosses in one hit, or clear a room in one hit. The final boss (on normal) went to slightly under half health with one Cain shot for me.

Maybe I'm using it wrong or something, but sledges shotgun did LESS damage to enemies than my green shotgun i found 2 levels before that. And this is at point blank.

Also, I think the quests are determined by the host player. SO you need to find a host who hasn't done it yet to do it.
