Whether people like reading them or not is irrelevant the point is that they allow the reviewer to put his thoughts down in a structured manner. Which will have knock on effects in their future discussions too. I personally don't always have time to listen to the bombcast so I appreciate the reviews. Honestly with 3-5 quick looks a week I don't think I can keep up and judge everything comparatively.

That said, i'm usually a year or two behind in actually playing games so I use the GOTY lists as guidelines. Though I can't keep up in playing top 20 games of the year nowadays I can probably still play top 5-6 games every year(with the two year lag).

I was on this week long trekking expedition in the mountains in Greece(Zagoroxoria) with my uncle and I ran into these girls who were also hiking. So I walked with them for awhile, there was a bit of dangerous part and one of the girls slipped and hurt her leg(it looked fine) but she was having trouble walking for a bit so we stopped. Bombshell: she said she could not go on and needed to go to a hospital, the previous shelter was about 4 hours away, the forward one about 6 hours away.

Her friend would have none of it, they had to keep going because they had plans and had to make it to spot X for some shit or whatever. Anyway after about half an hour of bickering between them the healthy friend got angry and just stormed off and left her friend there with me. So I decided I would try and help out, I half jogged to the previous shelter in about 2 hours, turns out they had some connection issues there so I had to run about 2 more hours to the nearest village, eventually they sent a chopper and picked the girl up.

I don't like calling such things nice, its just the stoic way.

I've been here since the beginning, I remember the site when it had 4-5 videos and I mildly agree with your sentiments. Klepek was fun because of his love for indies but as a person he is BOOOOORING. Dan on the other hand is one of those adds that adds character to the crew. I do agree that it feels empty at times, one more attitude filled person is just what we need.

@fredchuckdave: Do you have a confirmation that he died? It seems to me that that shot of him about to have his throat cut and then the baddy being interrupted is the kind of thing you do in films/series if the character in question actually survives the process. VERY ODD decision to have someone about to be killed and then not getting killed but dying anyway in the same scene. I mean otherwise they would have done a vengeful grey worm kind of scene.

Anyway I agree, that the paleography(is that a word in English? it is in Greek) was absolutely horrid. I generally am disappointed when shows/movies cut the camera after every move but yeah this also had a setup fault.

These TV shows lack style and passion. Honestly if I was directing, this would have been the ideal time to do something like this with Selmy:

I like your Chinese history comparisons, though I don't know if I trust any kind of legend like that, it seems like the kind of thing an emperor can rewrite, I'd need scholarly sources to believe such fables.

I go on week long trips trekking where I sleep outside. I go camping at some nice beaches every summer. I like to sit outside with my dog and play for hours. Even so I can't imagine that its more than 10%. My routine is mostly go from place A to place B which are both indoors. This year I've been walking for about an hour a day but even so that's less than 5% of my time.

edit: i'm pretty sure the votes that said 30% don't understand what they are implying. Assuming you sleep inside that means you spend more time hanging out OUTSIDE than inside. Given we are all gamers this is unlikely.

I would say knowing where the enemy placement and moveset is not even half the battle so its worth playing DS.

Though it HAS to be online. The online component is the only thing that keeps the game from being fully deterministic.

@strife777: I would agree with you that MMA is more fun except when they start hugging on the floor it gets REALLY SLOW.

Civ is kind of slow you need adjusting to. I'd recommend RTS games for a noob. Top of my head: Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology, C&C: Generals is fun. If you are into RPG's the best RTS by far is Warcraft 3.
