Gaming machines I have known, loved and stuck my genitals into

Gaming machines I've owned.

List items

  • My first. I broke roughly four of those joysticks in the space of about 12 months.

  • The subject of so many playground arguments with Sinclair Spectrum owners. They were, of course, wrong.

  • I was the first kid in my class to get one of these. For a few brief days, I was a god amongst men (boys)

  • I missed this one first time round. Too many adolescent 'indiscretions' (read: drugs and girls). I picked one up from ebay for a pittance. Super Mario World is still one of the greatest games ever made.

  • I never use it. Sega Rally is great but it was a mid-20s eBay catch-up job that I probably shouldn't have bothered with.

  • Represents my return to gaming. GTA, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7 and 8 showed me that games were no longer for kids and gaming was maturing.

  • The platform for three of the greatest games of all time Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye

  • Why!? Why wasn't this more successful?! Crazy Taxi not enough? Jet Set Radio not enough? Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, Rez? A lovely console that sadly marked the end of Sega as a hardware manufacturer.

  • The best-selling but not really my favourite console. There are plenty of great games for it but I preferred my Gamecube.

  • My favourite console. From a design perspective it's perfect. It's small, compact and exists for no other reason than to play games. A sorely under-rated back catalogue. It's a shame it didn't sell a few more units.

  • Too big. Decent games but I don't have anywhere to put it.

  • I lost my first GBA in a game of pool. I had been drinking G&Ts for about four hours and should never have been allowed near a pool table.

  • I loved this thing. I still don't know where and when I lost it. How am I going to play Electroplankton now!?

  • A fantastic console, arguably 2nd after the Gamecube in my heart. Yeah, I've had to buy a second one after my replacement died out of warranty but the problems have been fixed, the catalogue of games is second to none and there's no major need for the next generation to appear any time soon.
