I did that. Bought Europa Universalis 3 when I knew I wouldn't ever play it because I had tried to learn Hearts of Iron 3, which is kinda similar, and completely gave up.

EUIII is a different beast and a lot easier to get into imho. Still a learning curve, for sure.

Normal. They don't want to spend the money on extra servers that they won't need in a few months. It's the same with every launch. The fact that this is the biggest grips about the launch is a good thing for them and the game.
