Best of 2011

This has been the first year when I really have played pretty much all of the games that I have wanted. It has easily been the most expensive year when it comes to game purchases, but it has also been one of the best. The only game that I have not played yet is Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

List items

  • I had never played an Elder Scrolls game before this, so I went into this without knowing anything about the world. Luckily that doesn't matter at all. Everything about this game is just masterful. From the story, gameplay, voice acting and atmosphere this game delivers. I've played it for crazy amounts of time and I can't wait to jump back in.

  • I finished Portal about a year before the sequel and I hated that I waited that long. This game does everything that game did and improves it in every way. Also the ending is nothing short of genius!

  • L.A. Noire is pretty much tailor made for me. An excellent Noir with story over gameplay. Loved every second of it and something that I will return to in the future just to experience the brilliance again.

  • Arkham Asylum was great and so is this. It has some flaws but I had a great time playing it and am anxiously awaiting Rocksteady's next game, whatever it may be.

  • Single-player campaign was much better than I expected, especially since I heard no one even say a word about it when it launched. But it's really all about the multiplayer, which in my opinion is streets ahead of anything Call of Duty is doing right now.

  • Brilliant concept with the wit and charm only Double Fine can make. A bit to easy, but overall a great game. It was really nice to play something that didn't have any violence in it at all.

  • Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic game and it wraps up the story nicely, but for some reason it just left me sort of underwhelmed. It's a Gears game, which I guess just doesn't really do it for me anymore.

  • I am one of the few people that actually care about the story in the Modern Warfare series. It doesn't really disappoint here but it also doesn't do anything new either. The ending is pretty much perfect in my opinion. The multiplayer just doesn't feel the same as MW2 and it's a shame because I do want to like it but I just can't. Another game that I will give another shot next year.

  • I have never never really been a fan of fighting games and the last time I really enjoyed one was Tekken 3. But when this came out and the Scrub League video was posted I knew I had to get it. The campaign was really enjoyable and it's has a huge amount of content and modes. Sadly I never got into the multiplayer because everytime I decided to play it was laggy and it was really frustrating. I am planning on going back to it sometime this year.

  • I had no expectations at all going into this game. I thought it looked alright in the trailers and such, but that was it. I mostly got it because of Epic Games involvement and I actually liked it quite a bit. The combat is fun and the story was much better than I had expected.
