All the gameplay for this game looks fake. Like a bunch of test footage for character animation and showcase for their impressive assets. None of this looks like a slice of an actual video game aside from the cut scenes.

You're crazy.

But I guess we'll see! Looks like gameplay to me. Some obvious tells where the animations (super smooth as they are) still look just like animation transitions.

Extremely impressive if it's real.

Nice surprise! Just got the last one recently. Very excited to watch this while ignoring my work.

Oh man, Drew really should have gone back to get the Body Armour. It would make the next couple of bossfights so much easier.

I suspect he'll have to, because the ascent up the comms tower is straight NOT FUN without the body armor. I foresee him failing that ascent multiple times come next episode.

I tended to skip the armour. You don't really need the it for the Comms Tower if you are full on stun grenades and time your throws right. That's how I always did it, but, yeah, sounds a bit rough for Drew. Armour would be a nice cushion.

I just wish there weren't so many random items in random offices that you have to backtrack to when you have a higher keycard. The armoury makes some amount of sense. But all the random stuff in B1 and B2 of the nuke storage building you can miss (and the thermal goggles) seem really arbitrary.

Yep, 100% - though, I do think it's a bigger problem now than it was then. Often times people playing MGS today (myself or others) are in a bit of a rush. Back in 1998 I was so blown away by the game and loved it so much that I relished in returning to every area, outwitting the guards and cameras and looking in every nook and cranny for items or little easter eggs. I played the game so many times over and finding new items you had missed previously (like just felt so rewarding. I think today a lot of that natural amazement wore off. And then you watch someone like Drew struggle with the controls and it does seem a little unfair when he's in a situation where the Thermal Goggle (no s :P) would make a huge difference but he just happened to miss them.

Another excellent entry.

I'm so excited we're getting into the real meat of MGS now.

You're taking this too seriously... Funny QL I thought. Try to take things with a little more humor in mind, no need to look into the from-the-gut feelings/comedy of the internet heel/amazing weirdo who is Dan Ryckert.

I thought the combo of his wild cartoon ignorance and Brad was perfect. Their rivalry of Fancy vs Simple is a classic match up.

I love Chivalry. Hope this finds an audience! Would buy in a heartbeat for PS4.

This continues to be the best GB since I don't know what. Definitely has the spirit of a Breaking Brad. Destroying Drew?

I just wish there was more.

so jeff kinda shits all over firewatch and doesn't rly let anybody talk about it at length (sure, it was meant to be funny but it kind of wasn't) and then there's this huge disney infinity spot? weird.

I thought it was really funny and also really obvious he wasn't actually insulting Firewatch...

Maybe your sense of humour and Jeff's just don't vibe, I don't think there's any more to it than that. Disney Infinity always gets lots of love from GB, and it makes sense considering JV.

Psycho Mantis' death has always been the "Metal Gear Starts Here" moment for me.

Very true. I've never thought about it like that. The first few hours of MGS1 are great, but this is the point that things start to become amazing.

Yep!

It also sets up a pattern that never really lets up in the series, which is making Bosses sympathetic, usually right before they die. I was really stunned by the Psycho Mantis battle as a kid. It was weird enough hearing Meryl say "Make love to me" when I was 10 but Mantis' dad and his last/first act of kindness at the end was waaaaay too much to take in. It's incredible how victimized Mantis comes off.

And like Drew realized, it's where the "Spy Movie" starts to unravel, and MGS becomes both darker and weirder, and the characterization of Snake as a monster begins. Snake proves what Mantis says when he ignores Meryl's pleas for affection. Pretty wild stuff for 1998!
