Well *this* was amazing!

@geraltitude: If you play a Monster Hunter game you'll know exactly what I mean. Monster Hunter is all over that thing (I think the same developers worked on it).

Ok but if that's true then every Metal Gear game must be like Monster Hunter unless you are talking only about base management aspect? The Stealth is just Metal Gear through and through. Only the boss treatment is a little different, so maybe that's what you mean. But a small part of the game to say Peace Walker is just like Monster Hunter!

Here's hoping for a full MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, and eventually MGS5 playthrough.

Yes. They should skip the mediocre Peace Walker. Its story is recaped at the begining of Ground Zeroes anyway.

As a long time MGS fan playing Peace Walker for the first time now (6~ hours in), let me say this -

You are wrong! :D

I think the nature of the game (side ops) makes it a little weird for a feature like this, but I love the gameplay a lot. It's very similar to VR missions in its set ups.

Nah, skip Peace Walker. It wouldn't be good for this series. Its gameplay is more similar to Monster Hunter than Metal Gear Solid (okay, that might be an exaggeration).

This is not true! LOL. Ok, well, I never played Monster Hunter, but Peace Walker is very, very similar to MGS. In fact it's like a MGS 1.5 with a VR missions attitude. Are you sure you're thinking about the same game? It's just third person stealth with smaller levels rather than 1 big one.

At 33:30 Vinny cracks a joke: "you should put a balloon on that armored vehicle and take it to your base".

And here we are with Phantom Pain coming out next year and you will be doing just that.

That was so awesome! Oh man. What a fantastic series. Makes me want to subscribe twice over. Thank you so much Dan and Drew and GB. Can't wait for the next episode. Really wish this was a daily thing!

@mooseymcman I think voices are so hard to "re get used to". I had just played MGS so many times before Twin Snakes that I could never prefer the TS voices. I'd be like coming home to my mom no longer having an accent. She'd be easier for others to understand but damn it would be weird and off putting. Some of the acting is better in TS but my mind just can't handle the tonal differences.

Also another vote for using the analog stick, it's really not bad in MGS. Might make approaching those soldiers from the back a little easier.

I don't remember this boss fight being that hard. It's taking Drew quite a long time to get used to those controls!

It might be how they're playing them.. I think if you sat down with the game for 3-4 hours straight it would click much easier than an hour here or there.

You catch that @drewbert? You need to sit down *for hours and hours and hours* at a time.

:D

I blame the fact that Drew wastes all his time doing stuff like.. hiking.. or camping.. when he could be sitting in a dark room playing Metal Gear. On a more serious note it's amusing how he keeps messing up the R1/R2 buttons, but I agree it's probably because of how little they play. I remember when I played this game for the first time I spent SO much time just in the first area learning how to chokehold guys, how far they can see me, how to throw grenades, how the pressing against the wall mechanic works etc. I was also in high school at the time so needless to say.. I crawled in and out of that vent as many times as it took.

This is exactly what I was thinking about with everyone here going "the fight is so easy!"

It was *not* so easy!

I honestly think I played about 5 hours before getting to Ocelot, and that doesn't count playing the demo for weeks beforehand. Got realllly stuck on Ocelot before reading the manual and learning the run-shoot ability.

And uh.. yeah.

I saw Meryl in her underwear. Twice.

Personally, this is NOT what I want to see. Dan you need to help out Drew. Watching Drew screw up and rerun an easy boss fight 10 times is not entertaining.

I dunno that was the best part for me..

So @danryckert *do not* listen to this person!

But you could have told him that you can run and shoot at the same time. (you forgot, didn't you?)

Man, that whole fight just looks like a lot of running in circles. I guess we know why they call him "Revolver Ocelot".

ahahaha! that's perfect.
